The RiverCottage Cookbook by Hugh Fearnley-Whitingstall is a real book about cookery.
There's none of the plastic-looking artistically arranged fripperies that pass for food in the cook books of many so-called chefs and self-styled experts. Hugh Fearnley-Whitingstall gives us real food, cooked really well.
The book won the Glenfiddich Trophy for 2002. It is not hard to see why. With Hugh, there's none of the schlepping down to Waitrose, Tesco, Sainbury's or wherever. No. Hugh preaches the gospel of good, wholesome food. Now, whilst Hugh is keen on people growing their own food, he is not silly enough to believe that everyone can grow their own food, as he does. But Hugh does point out that just about everyone can grow something at home. Even if it is just herbs grown in small pots, inside or out.

Any how,moving along to hopefully send a taste of it to tickle yer taste buds and using my senses and memory to enlighten and share with you my thoughts and opinion on this Welsh holiday cottage,you will see I have put a few disadvantages but for the main part-99% excellent.
This cottage comes complete with a tiny front garden with seating-breathtaking views,a terraced/gravel stoned back garden consisting of more woodland /farming views with a tumbling rushing waterfall,-this is the famous River dyfi; the upper Dovey part of the river tumbling past the cottage high in the pure clean air complete with fairy bridge!
..here we go..over black slate and white boulders,off road parking,its'own terrace to sit and drink in the quiet atmosphere/musical sounds of the tumbling waters out back,-all just within ...

Advantages: Wonderful book Disadvantages: Absolutely nothing
As soon as I found out that Channel 4 were releasing a tie-in book for Hugh Fearnley Whittingstalls latest series "RiverCottage Forever", I rushed out to get it. The book cost £20.00 from Waterstones (RRP £25.00), so I was already pleased at getting a discount! This is a hardcover book containing 447 full colour pages and has some wonderful photography throughout.
If you enjoyed the series, then this is the book for you, it offers a complete guide to life at RiverCottage with all the info from the show and more. Firstly, most (but not all) of the recipes featured in the series are present, so if Hugh made you hungry for any of his recipes, they're here with detailed ingredients, peperation & cookery instructions.
