Introduction =========
My Mum bought this when it first came out on VHS. Before everyone scrolls downs to mark this as off topic just hear me out. She did not buy it on DVD because when this was first released DVD had not been invented, plus she only bought it because she was a big Coronation Street fan and thought Beverley Callard looked great.
Both my Mum and I wanted to lose weight so we started using this workout three times a week, we did not follow the diet just cut down our meal portions.
The Workout ==========
Before you get to do the workout you are introduced to the 10 members of the class and what they want achieve out of this programme. We then get to see them 10 weeks later and a comparison is done on each member to show his or her real results.
Beverley Callard recommends that you watch the workout prior trying it; she recommends a glass of wine or a nice cup of tea. However if you are doing the workout then get plenty of water.
Warm Up - This is to warm up the body to prepare for the workout to come, this
is fairly gentle and easy to pick up.
Aerobic - This is a bit faster but again easy to pick up and after finishes the first section I did begin to feel out of breath but not gasping. There is a second section to the aerobic but this is easy with nothing that is going to kill you. There are even two women in the class that do an easier version if the standard is too difficult.
After all this hard work you have to check you heart beat, Beverley will explain how to do this.
Upper Body - This works on the back, chest, arms and shoulders. This is when all the toning begins and after you have done this section you can feel it on your arms and shoulders. You can use weights if you want too or a tin of beans though you don't have to use anything at all
Bums - You need a mat for this section and you need to get down onto your knees with your head in your hands and lowered to the floor. You work each leg to trim your bottom up. I have always struggled with this section because my leg felt heavy while in the air but my bottom did feel it after I had finished.
Legs, Waist & Tummy - You will still be on the mat but this time you get to lay on your side lifting your leg. After a few of these my leg began to tremble but Beverley asked her class if there leg was trembling so this must be normal.
After working one side you move onto the tummy before doing the other leg. You will be laid on your back for these to do tummy crunches. This is hard work but just think about how good your tummy will look as long as you keep it up
Cool Down - This has to be the best part of the workout because you now know you have finished the workout and are now just stretching out those hard working muscles. There is a range of positions from laying, sitting and standing positions to get to all those muscles.
The DVD runs for 83 minutes but the workout is approximately 60 minutes.
Extras =====
There are none but what did you really expect? The only bit I am disappointed in is that you cannot even do scene select to skip through the introduction at the start. I remember that's why the VHS tape broke because my mum and I got sick of the long intro to the workout and kept fasting forwarding it.
Overview =======
With the tape broken and Mum dying as well I gave up on working out for quite sometime because my Mum and I used to have so much fun doing this. It wasn't until about a year ago that I saw this on DVD for £7.99 and considering I did not have any fitness DVD's I thought this would be a good one to start the collection.
It took my a little while to pop into the DVD recorder because I kept thinking about my Mum and when I finally decided to play it I burst into tears within the first five minutes of doing the workout. Silly I know but this was something that my Mum and I shared together.
I can now do this workout and sometimes I find myself looking over my shoulder to see how my Mum is doing, maybe she is just there is spirit. This workout has been designed to be as gentle as possible but you still feel breathless and the muscles working.
The only thing that does get annoying is Beverley Callard as once you have done this workout several times her motivational comments become lacking. The music can be very lightly heard in the background and includes Annie Lennox and Phil Collins but the music does compliment the workout be again after several times of hearing it; it does get annoying.
However gentle this is you can lose a lot of weight through this workout both my Mum and I did and I am again (lost 4lb so far in 3 weeks). If you are looking to lose weight this might a good DVD to start with because it is an easy routine but yet is fun to do especially if you want to workout with someone.
Thanks for reading.

Well, VHS is just "Film only" so any other film you have on VHS can be reviewed as "Film only" because there are usually no extras (except for trailers before the film begins) ~ I just wonder, since you are now reviewing as "DVD" if there are any extras on the DVD that you would like to discuss! ~ ~ .................................................................................................... ~ ♥ ~ jes ~ ♥♥
