Why review this DVD it is one of my sons favourites so I know this Film Word for word.
Top named actors have been getting involved in animation movies for the last few years and this film is no exception. Voice of Barry - Jerry Seinfeld Voice of Vanessa - Renee Zellweger
The plot
The film looks at the world through the eyes of a bee, in particular a bee called Barry. Barry lives at home with his parents and has just graduated and has to get a job at the hive workplace Hone. He is mortified to discover that he has to pick one job for life. His best friend Adam also graduated at the same time is quite looking forward to work but Barry has other idea. He happens to have a chat with the pollen jocks that are considered to be the babe magnets of the hive and they give him an opportunity to go out flying with, this is where his adventure begins. He gets separated from the pollen Jocks ad ends up in the apartment of Vanessa who is a florist. When he saves her life he feels compelled to thank her despite it been a bee rule not to speak to humans. The friendship between Vanessa and Barry develop and when visiting a supermarket with he discovers that humans buy honey. He is outraged and with Vanessa's help starts a court case against the human race.
The Film looks at the relationship between, parents, friends and people and enemies.
My opinion
The animation in this film is impressive. It is brightly coloured with great detail The film is fast paced to keep everyone interested but my toddler is able to follow the story, or at least he appears to. It has an environmental message. The film explores the relationship between the parents and son that everyone will recognise, the parent's desire for them to settle down with a good steady job while the son craves adventure and excitement. Adam struggles with the role of the best friend, to try and keep his friend out if trouble while at the same time been drawn listening to the exciting world His friend is discovering. Despite having watched this film time and time again I still enjoy it. It has both comedy and emotional scenes. The fact I have seen this movie so often means I can half watch it and follow the plot. My son makes a buzzing noise when he sees Barry. I do like the fact that there is a positive message about working together and how all the creatures and works together to create the world in which we live.
I would recommend this to children and those young at heart. This is a family film that has humour at all levels.
