has to sell his homey motel to clever Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths) who promises to make Marty's son manager, when he's grown up and has proven himself. Nottingham pulls down the motel to raise a pricey hotel. Although grown up, Marty's son Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler) works as a janitor and general servant, but unlikely as it seems, he still dreams of becoming the manager. When Nottingham announces a brand-new gigantic hotel project, he makes his future son-in-law, base Kendall (Guy Pierce), manager, shattering Skeeter's dream. At the same time Skeeter's sister Wendy (Courtney Cox) has to leave town for a job interview and asks him to alternate looking after her two children Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit) and Bobbi (Laura Ann Kesling) with Wendy's responsible-minded colleague Jill (Keri Russell). He doesn't get along with either Jill or the children, but his easy-goingness loosens them all up and once he starts telling his bedtime stories, the children grow fond of him and begin to bring in their ideas about how the stories should go. When the stories turn out to become true in real life, Skeeter tries to maneuver the stories into a direction which will make his dream come true, too.

Plot-wise, it's an interesting story, with enough going on to keep you going for the hour and a half it lasts. It doesn't quite find its feet in terms of is it a comedy, a romance, a kids film or a fantasy, choosing rather to dip in and out of all them at will. Because of this, it often feels a bit disjointed, and lacks the clarity of focus it might have had with tighter scripting.
Acting-wise, Sandler gives his archetypal role of dopey but funny, and I have to say that appeals to me a lot. Russell Brand gives an unmemorable showing, but the most tragic performance is reserved for Guy Pearce. How can a man, who gave such a brilliant performance in 'Memento', be reduced to a naive stereotype in this film? The movie does nothing for him, and it's a wonder he took it.
All in all, this is a light-hearted film that certainly entertains, but the disjointed focus means it's nothing to write home about.
Advantages: great story, good acting, good funny bits Disadvantages: Russell Brand is in it!

After the first night Skeeter finds that the story they made up did in fact come true for him and he lived it out during the day. Skeeter tries to use this to his advantage and help him move up in the hotel industry. Will Skeeter be able to use the children?s stories to get his dream job or will things not work out as he planned?
I have only given a very brief plot outline to this film as I think that giving away anymore would spoil the film as it is a little predictable towards the end so I don?t want to spoil it for anyone who has not seen it.
Now this film is really for children but I really did want to see it as it looked very fun. I have to say that both me and hubby found it was very entertaining and at times very funny. I thought that Adam Sandler ...

Skeeter Bronson, is the son of the late Marty who was forced to sell his small family motel to Barry Nottingham who in turn tore it down to build a fancy, more expensive hotel in it's place. Nottingham makes a promise to Marty to let his son run the place when he grows up but instead of being hired as manager, Skeeter is given the position of hotel handyman.
His life takes an unusual turn while baby-sitting his niece and nephew, when he discovers the bedtimestories he tells them start to come true. With the help of the kids, he tries to manipulate future events to the benefit of both his family and himself. Will he ever become manager ...
Advantages: The dreams and how they come true are clever Disadvantages: Its got a weak ending
simply isn't funny.
Sandler discovers that the bedtimestories his nephew & neice tell come true in real life, its quite a clever idea and seeing what the causes of some of the real dreams is fairly clever but its an idea I feel they didn't explore fully. Throw in a bit of a love story between Sandler & the hotel owners daughter, a comedy CGI hamster that the little kids will love but most adults will probably find rather annoying and wait until Sandler tries to corrupt the dreams for his own employment advancement.
Throw in a side line of betrayal and a rather predictable if somewhat soppy and rather dull ending and you have BedtimeStories. It's enjoyable once but won't stand up to repeated viewings I fear. Sandler tried a little too hard to make his kids movie but the end product fell a little short of the mark. ...

DVD Description
Having promised to make a film his own kids could enjoy, Adam Sandler delivers the goods in the charming fairy tale BEDTIME STORIES. As the film opens we meet Marty Bronson (Jonathan Pryce), running the family motel along with his children, Wendy and Skeeter. Marty's ruinous business sense forces him to sell the motel to ambitious developer Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths). Marty hopes Skeeter will run the business someday, but years later we find Skeeter (Sandler) working only as the new hotel's maintenance man. So when Wendy (Courteney Cox) asks Skeeter to babysit her kids, Bobbi and Patrick, Skeeter--a master storyteller--wins them over by crafting bedtime stories that reflect his frustrations. From ancient Rome to outer space, Skeeter is the heroic underdog defeating his hotel rival, Kendall (Guy Pearce), and winning the hand of Nottingham's daughter. But when the kids' creative additions cross over into true life, Skeeter is convinced that they're the key to his sudden success. The price of that success, though, is the destruction of the kids' school. To save the school, his relationship with Wendy's kids, and the affections of love interest Jill (Keri Russell), Skeeter must bring his storytime heroics into the real world.
Sandler puts his trademark man-child antics to good use as the disheartened handyman who fulfills his dreams by staying true to the people who matter most. Filled with plenty of humour and a heartfelt message, BEDTIME STORIES is an uplifting family fable that can be appreciated by parents and children alike.
