has to sell his homey motel to clever Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths) who promises to make Marty's son manager, when he's grown up and has proven himself. Nottingham pulls down the motel to raise a pricey hotel. Although grown up, Marty's son Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler) works as a janitor and general servant, but unlikely as it seems, he still dreams of becoming the manager. When Nottingham announces a brand-new gigantic hotel project, he makes his future son-in-law, base Kendall (Guy Pierce), manager, shattering Skeeter's dream. At the same time Skeeter's sister Wendy (Courtney Cox) has to leave town for a job interview and asks him to alternate looking after her two children Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit) and Bobbi (Laura Ann Kesling) with Wendy's responsible-minded colleague Jill (Keri Russell). He doesn't get along with either Jill or the children, but his easy-goingness loosens them all up and once he starts telling his bedtime stories, the children grow fond of him and begin to bring in their ideas about how the stories should go. When the stories turn out to become true in real life, Skeeter tries to maneuver the stories into a direction which will make his dream come true, too.

Skeeter Bronson and his sister have grown up living in their fathers small guest house and loved every minute of it, that is until they are forced to sell it to a Mr Nottingham who it time knocks it down and builds a massive hotel. Mr Nottingham did promise Skeeter’s Dad that when he was old enough he would let him work for the hotel and give his ideas. Unfortunately Skeeter is only the handy man but he loves his job.
When visiting his niece and nephew, Patrick and Bobbie, Skeeter finds his life is about to take a dramatic turn when he is roped into looking after the children and their massive eyed Guinea Pig, for a week whilst their mother goes for some job interviews. Skeeter will get help with the children by their friend Jill but it is down to him to have them at night. As there is no television in their hose they spend a lot of time in their beds and with the help of Skeeter they make up bedtime stories.

I have only given a very brief plot outline to this film as I think that giving away anymore would spoil the film as it is a little predictable towards the end so I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who has not seen it.
Now this film is really for children but I really did want to see it as it looked very fun. I have to say that both me and hubby found it was very entertaining and at times very funny. I thought that Adam Sandler did a great job in the role of Skeeter as his character was daft and this for me is what he does best. I think he had a great chemistry with both of the children and this did show throughout the film. The addition of Skeeter’s best friend du make me groan when I first saw him as he was played by Russell Brand but after watching the film I have to admit that he is changing in my eyes as when he is acting he seems to do a great job, it is just in real life he acts like a complete tit. He brought a lot of humour to the film.
There were a lot of supporting actors and actresses in this film and they all did a wonderful job and they really got into it with all the dressing up they did and all the parts which they played in the stories. I personally found Guy Pierce was my favourite supporting actor and I loved the slimy character which he played. Bugsy the Guinea Pig was also a great addition to the story and he did give us a few laughs at times with some of the things which he did or the expressions he made.
The film was set in the present time so mot much attention was needed with the costumes of sets but when we were seeing the stories which were being made up this is where a lot of time and effort was put in as they were all set in different times and places and the character were all made up as different people and I thought t his was well made and fitted right into the whole film idea.
The music throughout the film as very mixed and I did enjoy all of it. I found that it suited all of the parts in which it was used and did at times help with the settings and emotions of the story.
The DVD which we have does have some bonus features which include:-
Hilarious Bloopers and Deleted Scenes Until Gravity Do Us Part- The creation of the amazing anti-gravity battle It’s Bugsy - A profile of everyone’s favourite guinea pig! To All the Little People - Adam having fun with his co stars Laura Ann Kesling and Jonathan Heit Dylan and Cole Sprouses - Blu-ray is suite!
The running time of this film is 95 minutes and think this is a suitable length for children to sit still for but I do think that this film will have them entertained for the whole time. The certificate is a PG and I agree with this but I would say it is aimed more at the age of 8 and upwards as younger children might not understand some of the things which happen. I have not watched this with my boys as they are only 7, 5 and 2 and don’t think they are quite old enough to understand and enjoy it fully.
I paid just under £5 for this from Amazon which I felt to be a great price as it is relatively new out on DVD. Overall I am going to recommend this film and not just for children as me and hubby thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.
Advantages: Funny, good cast, Guy Pearce and Bugsy the guinea pig Disadvantages: More could have been made of the story sequences

Acting/Characters
*************
I want to start off by saying, my favourite character without a doubt is ... ...Sandler is his usual ridiculous self in this film - all loud voice, burps, farts and booger jokes and exaggerated hand gesters - exactly what attracts kids to a film. You can't help but think that from a childs' perspective Sandler would be the ultimate Uncle and yet from a grown ups perspective, he would be a nightmare! He has a way of engaging the younger audience which, even though it's mostly infantile humour, I can't help but wish I could do ...

...evening, he tells them a bedtime story. The next day, parts of the story come true, and he soon realises that the way to getting what he wants in life is through telling the stories.
Sandler is likeable enough as Skeeter. To be honest, he doesn't really do anything different to any other role he plays, with the same juvenile actions and attitude that you can relate all of his characters to. Guy Pearce is instantly dislikeable as the yuppy suck aiming ... ...and the story revolves around bedtime stories coming true lends a certain licence to Sandler to enter his own imagination and splurge it out in a story, and the result is actually quite funny. The CGI hamster named Bugsy, because of his eyes, is a laugh out loud moment for many, and the plot, while predictable and having been done before, is still an enjoyable one. I liked watching this, and it kept me entertained throughout.

...ticket to go and see Bedtime Stories in the cinema, and as it was a film I was planning on seeing anyway, I accepted it with pleasure. There were two main reasons I wanted to see this film, primarily down to the cast. Knowing that both Adam Sandler and Courtney Cox were going to be in it, two favourite actors of mine, I couldn't wait to see, and had high expectations for it.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT:
Adam Sandler stars as Skeeter, a hotel janitor who is ambling his was through a relaxed life when something magical happens. When babysitting his niece and nephew, he discovers that the stories he tells them at bedtime actually become reality! With this super-power in hand, he sets about manouvering his own destiny so that he can become manager of the hotel he works in, and have the life he's always dreamed of.
IS IT ANY GOOD:
If you hear there's a new film coming out starring Adam Sandler and Russell Brand, you wouldn't think it would be a family film would you? Well, BedtimeStories fits (although rather awkardly) into that bracket. In my own adult opinion, it's just a nice film, a light-hearted drama with plenty of comic moments that encourages creativity and ambition. It has a touch of fantasy to it ...
Advantages: Cute kids, some amusing moments, guinea pig really grew on me Disadvantages: Just not funny enough for adults.
BedtimeStories had been on our dvd list since seeing a trailer for it at the cinema. My husband had been particularly keen to see it while I was so-so. I enjoy Adam Sandler's films and often enjoy children's films. However, I suspected this might be a watered down version of both.
THE PREMISE
BedtimeStories was directed by Adam Shankman a choreographer turned director, who I love. Some of you will be less familiar with Shankman but he is a regular judge on the American hit show "So You Think You Can Dance" which is currently in its fifth series. When he's one of the judges I just want to adopt him and keep him with me all of the time and he can make everyone around me dance delightfully.
Ok, think I slipped up on explaining the premise. It's just that writing about Adam Shankman is more fun than writing about this film ...

DVD Description
Having promised to make a film his own kids could enjoy, Adam Sandler delivers the goods in the charming fairy tale BEDTIME STORIES. As the film opens we meet Marty Bronson (Jonathan Pryce), running the family motel along with his children, Wendy and Skeeter. Marty's ruinous business sense forces him to sell the motel to ambitious developer Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths). Marty hopes Skeeter will run the business someday, but years later we find Skeeter (Sandler) working only as the new hotel's maintenance man. So when Wendy (Courteney Cox) asks Skeeter to babysit her kids, Bobbi and Patrick, Skeeter--a master storyteller--wins them over by crafting bedtime stories that reflect his frustrations. From ancient Rome to outer space, Skeeter is the heroic underdog defeating his hotel rival, Kendall (Guy Pearce), and winning the hand of Nottingham's daughter. But when the kids' creative additions cross over into true life, Skeeter is convinced that they're the key to his sudden success. The price of that success, though, is the destruction of the kids' school. To save the school, his relationship with Wendy's kids, and the affections of love interest Jill (Keri Russell), Skeeter must bring his storytime heroics into the real world.
Sandler puts his trademark man-child antics to good use as the disheartened handyman who fulfills his dreams by staying true to the people who matter most. Filled with plenty of humour and a heartfelt message, BEDTIME STORIES is an uplifting family fable that can be appreciated by parents and children alike.
