Beauty and the beast
This animated movie tells the story of a young shy woman Belle who lives with her father in Paris. He is an inventor and the whole town thinks he's crazy. Gaston is the man of the town, very popular with the ladies - every man wants to be him and all women want to date him - type of man.
He has a soft spot for Belle and wants to be with her, but when she ignores his advances he sets out to win her heart. When her father sets off to a inventors convention belle is left alone at home. As Belle sits at home alone Gaston pays her visit but she hides and runs down to the valley so she doesn't have to deal with him.
Down by the valley, she comes across the horse her father had taken to the convention, so she then knew something bad has happened to her father so off she goes to find him.
Her father had got lost in the forest and had to go to the nearest house to get help in the storm - He made his way to an enchanted castle
where he was greeting by a walking/talking candle stick and clock.
But then the master of the house realised there was an intruder in his castle and revealed himself then threw him in the dungeon. The old man could not believe a beast lived in a castle. Later that night Belle Enters the enhanced castle to find her father locked up in the dungeon and the beast finds her and ends up taking her hostage in replace of her father's freedom.
Belle doesn't get locked up in the dungeon, she gets a room of her own, and has full run of the house except for one room.
The story of the beast - He was put under a spell when he was 18, that he would remain as a beast until he could learn to love and be loved in return. And he was given a rose which would last until his 21st birthday and then the rose would die and the spell would remain the same - he would remain beast forever.
In this room he stored the rose in a glass case where it magically wilted away as each day goes by. And if it is removed from the glass casing it will die and the spell could never be broke. So this was the room belle was never allowed to see. Belle refused to make an effort with the beast, he invited her for dinner and she refused. He wants belle to be the woman to break the spell but he finds it very hard to be nice to her as he is so full of anger for all these years. He's trying but it's hard.
The candlestick and clock decided to take belle the tour of the castle and she ends up sneaking into the room and is caught by the beast, belle ends up running away and is attacked by wolves and is rescued by the beast. After this, belle then re-considers her feelings towards the beast.
Back in the village, Belles Father is trying to find help - going around telling everyone that a beast has captured belle - and the whole town thinks he's crazy. Then…Gaston thinks up a new idea of getting his dream girl. He sets it up so that if belle does not agree to marry him then he can arrange for her father to be put into an asylum. After the beast rescued Belle in the forest, their friendship began to blossom. Then the beast gave belle a gift - A mirror which will show her anything she ever wanted - She asked to see her father, and the reflection which came up on the mirror left her shaken - It was of her father barely alive lying in the woods, and the beast seen how distraught she was he let her go to help him.
Anyway she got to him and brought him home then Astons plans came to work - he bangs at the door and tries to force belle into marrying him when she says no they drag her father away until belle proves that the beast is real - using the mirror. The town couldn't believe their eyes, so off they went - torches in hand to kill the beast. Belle has to find a way to warn the beast - can she make it in time
My Opinion
I just love this film, it's a very well written story with a brilliant storyline. It has funny bits inside the enchanted castle. I just love all the little characters. The candle stick and the clock, Mrs Potts and Chip,Wardrobe and the dog foot cushion - all great animated characters.
The soundtrack was brilliant - they sang a few really good songs, and belle had such a beautiful voice. The theme tune is known all over the world and is just beautiful.
A very good family movie - fun for people of all ages - Disney make the best movies of all time. Enjoy the movie.

Wow, that was a lot of plot, but that's not the only reason for the SH. The product you have posted your review under is for the Special Edition yet you make no mention of any of the extras, which a collector of special editions would want to know about. For me the review would have been better posted under the standard DVD.
