Ok, well for those who don't know Beauty and the Beast is a children's animated film. The rest will be explained.....
==Story and characters
== The film is romanic - that is the most important thing. It is also fantasy. The main characters are the Beauty - Belle - and the beast - beast! The beast is really a handsome prince, who has been turned to a beast, until he finds a girl to marry, when the spell is broken. Belle is a very pretty, gentle, friendly girl, who finds her father has been captured and locked away ina castle by a beast. She goes to get her Father and says she wishes to swap places with her Father - hence she be imprisoned instead of him. The beast agrees, and then, over time, falls in love with Belle, as she does with him. It is your usual romance story - a fairytale of course, which never fails to make me cry. The beast is very cruel at first, but you soon see a softer side. There's also a talking teapot - and her baby cups, a candlestick, a clock and many other strange household items that are personified in a very funny and gentle, amusing way. It is a really funny film, but the romantic element is the strongest factor.
==Cast
== I
should say, in case you didn't figure when I said it was 'animated', all the cast are voice only. Beneath each is a few other things the actor has appeared in - you're more likely to know who they are then.
Beast - Robby Benson Mickey's magical Christmas, Sabrina the teenage witch, two of a kind
Belle - Paige O'Hara Mickey's magical Christmas, Kingdom hearts 2
Lefou - Jesse Corti Desperate housewives, Bringing down the house
Maurice (Belle's Dad) - Rex Everhart Superman, Matilda, Friday the 13th
Mrs Potts - Angela Lansbury Murder she wrote, Death on the Nile, Lace, Nanny McPhee
Lumiere - Jerry Orbache Law & Order, Dirty Dancing, Cop hater
So, I hope you know a bit about the cast now. The most famous, I reckon, is Angela Lansbury, but that's because I always see her on 'Murder she wrote'. Most of the others aren't very famous, but I don't think this makes much of a difference, as they do a great job anyway.
==Director
== The film was directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, who haven't directed many films, but did direct Atalntis and the Hunchback of Notradamme. As with that film, they do a great job in this film.
==Animation
== You really can't fault it. It is one of the best animated movies, ever, in my opinion. You don't have to love animations to love this film at all. I hate cartoons, but this film - it's nearly a legend in my book!
==Writers
== The writers, again, have little experience, but what they have done is famous and respected. The two main writers are Roger Allers (Alladin, The Little Mermaid) and Kelly Asbury (The Little Mermaid, Shrek). As you can see from the films, they ahve wroked on some very famous and loved films, and they do as well with Beauty and the beast as they did with the others. The script is really good - comedy great for little ones and some overly-romantic lines that are just great.
==Realistic?
== Well, at the end of the day, a beast is not going to fall in love with a girl (or vica versa) and then get changed back to a handsome prince. But, it is a children's animated fairytale - who cares whether it is realistic?
==Beg/mid/end
== There are no boring bits. The beginning may be seen as a little slow, but the whole film is fairly relaxing - not much too exciting, just sweet and soft. It is a love story - no-one is going to have a fight - well maybe one. But generally, like in 'The Lion King', it is a sweet children's story, so it is fairl slow and gentle. But, at no point would I say it was boring.
==Englsih film?
=== It is an English film, but has also been trasnlated into French.
==Year made
== The film was made in 1991. It hasn't really aged, in my opinion. I mean do disney films get old? This one hasn't.
==Music
== One of the best bits of the film. I haven't bought the soundtrack, but I still know most of the film's songs off by heart. There are some fast catchy ones, and some slow romantic ones. There is an amazing mixture. It is one of the greatest soundtracks from any Disney movie, but I do think most Disney movies have great soundtracks.
==Awards
== It won 2 oscars, as well as 16 other awards. It was nominated for a further 14! That's good going, I reckon!
==Running time
== The running time is 84 minutes.
==Certificate and who it's suitable for
== The film has the certificate U. It is suitable for all ages. I agree with this. Obviously, being a Disney film, you would expect it to be suitable for adults only, but you might think twice about getting a 30 year old to watch it. I think, as long as there is a ctually a child in the room, anyone can watch. You migh feel a bit of an idiot sat there watching it alone, but if there is a kid present, use it as an excuse and watch it! You may decide, though, that it is more suitable for girls, as they do seem to enjoy the love stories more - depends on the perosn really.
==Opinion
== I love this film. I think it is a classic love story, done so well, as usual, by Disney. They always manage to re-tell famous tales in a great way, and this film is no different. You, as an adult, will love it, as it is so sad at times, and so happy at times. As for kids, well it's Disney - enough said! The soundtrack really does make up a lot of the film, as it is so good, but the voices, script, animation, is all faultless. Seriously, don't die not having seen this film!!! It is typical Disney - a fairytale through and through. That makes it so great.
==End
=== If I missed anything out or you want to say anything, please say. Hope it was helpful to you. Scarlett x

Production Year: 1999 - Family - Director: Rob Minkoff - Original Language: English - Classification: Universal - Starring: Hugh Laurie, Geena Davis, Michael J. Fox, Nathan Lane, Chazz Palminteri
(not yet rated : needs a spell-check/proofread) You may be interested to know that the original fairytale was written by a frenchman, so it is not at all surprising that it is in both English and French (besides "Disney" having a theme park in Paris as well as 2 in USA)! ~ ~ .................................................................................................... ~ ♥ ~ jes ~ ♥♥

Ah, it is my daughter' s almost favourite Disney film (Aladdin gets first prize), although we all know the songs word perfect, much to my partners disgust, lol! I am always sad that Beast turns into the handsome (supposedly) prince. I must say, I much prefer the beast! Nice review! Gwen x
