Battlestar Galactica is a science fiction pilot film that follows a human civilzation located in a star system far far away but not a long long time ago (sorry, couldnt resist). Their struggle for survival against a robotic civilzation called the Cylons leads an exciting story arc that could eventually lead to a startling development in the subsequent tv series.
Comparisons were inevitably made between this and Star Wars, and it is alleged that it was an attempt to cash in on that particular hype. That being the case, Battlestar still offers originality, and even though the special effects are obviously dated, the story is engrossing as it is exciting with plenty of action along with a continuation into 2 subsequent tv series.
Sadly, as a dvd there is little in the way of extra's, but that's ok becuase Im sure that there are many people out there looking to replace there old vhs copy with this higher quality dvd.
