Advantages: Excellent Portrayal of events during WWII and the banding together of men in extreme circomstances
Disadvantages: Only shows the American side

...Band of Brothers is a 6 DVD series portraying the actions of Easy Company, 506th regiment of the 101st US Airborne through the role they played in WWII (well the end of it when the Yanks decided to show up!). It starts with airborne training, and you have to remember this is a very new idea in the US army, on to Normandy, their role in Operation Market Garden, Bastogne (The Battle of the Bulge) and on to the end of the war. You have 10 episodes spread over 5 DVD’s; they are about 50 mins per episode, and an extras disk making up the 6 DVD’s. The episodes start with a small clip of the surviving easy company men telling you what things were like, you can easily see that they have not and will never get over what they went through and the love they still feel for their living and fallen comrades, I would say that these people... ...Well as you can guess when seeing the patriot you think Mel Gibson - Braveheart. And yes it is a similar kind of film but i thought it was a good movie. Acting was good and it had a good storyline although its similar to many other storylines of similar films. Like Braveheart a film full of Battles and Mel against the bad guy but his acting is up to his usual good standard. If you like these kind of films or even Mel Gibson then it is definalty worth seeing. If your a bit squemish though then beware o the usual bloody battlefield fights in this kind of film. But all round its a good film.... Read review
