Battlefield - Series 2 DVD

Advantages: nostalgia, excellent series
Disadvantages: none at all

...I love Soldier Solder, I have all 7 series on video and am now converting them to DVD as they come out. So far, series 1, 2 and 3 have been released, with Series 4 being released in June 2005. (See my other reviews for Series 2 and 3). Tucker and Garvey, Dave and Donna, Paddy and Nancy, Tony and Joy. These are the couples that grabe you right from the first episode and take you through the next five series. (Series 6 and 7 were never so good once Tucker and Garvey had left). It was an excellent series and very fresh and new when it first arrived. Written by Lucy Gannon. It brought together Robson and Jerome (who can failed to have missed their hit single Unchained Melody!). Advantages: history gets a makeover

...Making history exciting has always been a difficult task, it is by its very definition a relic of the past and as such has often been presented as such. To take a subject which until now has been presented as a series of dates and names, battles and marriages and make it exciting, is no mean feat. Marketing the subject to the in-crowd is easy, like any product they are already your captive audience and will always meet you half way, presenting you subject to the uninitiated and particularly the inquiring young mind, is the challenge. Peter and Dan Snow presenters of BBC's latest attempt rise to the occasion and their vehicle, Battlefield Britain, hits the target. Although the BBC have long been the premier producers of natural history programs, it has been Channel Four who have held the high ground when it comes to history programs... Read review

Advantages: Very funny, fast, loveable characters
Disadvantages: DVD menus

...This was the first fast show DVD i bought. I was very pleased with it, the characters are hilarious as ever! However, if you want more value for money I would buy the 3rd series, just because you get an extra DVD. But series 2 has characters that disappear in the later series and is also a step up from the first series which was just starting off. One thing I dislike is the DVD menus. Most people seem to find them difficult to follow and confusing, but they are bright and colourful. They express the "fast" in the show. If you've never watched the fast show before I would recommend this DVD. As it's a 30 minute sketch show, you quickly learn the character's traits and begin to adore them, even if you never watched the first series. I'd give this 9/10... Read review
