It's not my first opinion on Ciao but it is my first opinion on the English section. What I say ? I am French and I wrote some opinions on French Ciao section and i have decided to write opinion in English for improved my English. So i please you to be sympathetic...
Why an opinion on this movie ? The first time I entended to speak about Battle Royale it was at night on an advert. I had seen blood, guns and crazy student life ... instantaneously i'm was seducing by the principle.**************** The director and the actors ****************The film is directed by Kinji Fukasaku who has signed more sixties movies but he is only revealed by battle royale in 2001 to occidental world. This Japanese director has refused violent cop because he felt the movie to much violent and it was Kitano who mad the film.
Inevitably the most famous actor of the movie is Kateshi Kitano who is more known for is talent of director (violent cop, Hanna Bi, l'été de Kikujiro - it is the french title because i don't know the English title) than for is talent of actor, although often he plays in its own films. He is a very good actor, very mysterious in his interpretation. The others actors are not very knew in this part of the planet.
*****************The story and my opinion ******************
42 students of a high school in Japan are lead up to a desert isle, in spite of them. The goal of that is to allow them to killed each other. Finally the last in life will be win !
The film is quite gore and there are blood every where you look ! The luck is an important factor for win but the "power" is an other important factor. In fact, we can make a parallel between "the natural selection principle" and the principle of this movie .... Beyond is bloody aspect, this movie is an ode to life. The end is very poetic and intense in emotion. So this is more than a gore movie, the movie analyzes the defects of the human heart. The little defect of the movie is that the suspense is not enought intense ! ****************** In conclusion ***********************
A very good movie, original, and "more" than a gore film ....
