Looking back, compared to this, the original idea they had for Battle Royale I was pretty straight forward compared to this bloodfest of a game.
42 High school children are forced to battle it out *again* on an island *again*. This time howeVer, they dont have to kill eachother off.. oh no,, that would be too easy, they have to kill a group of terrorists who are cooped up on this island. There is just one slight problem. Being terrorists, they have weapons, and it is inevitable that some of the school children are going to get shot right? Well, whats one dead person when you have got 42? No, No. When one person gets killed, another person in the team also dies. How is this you say? Well, each of the school chappies are teamed up with another of their friends in a tag team kinda thing. They are connected by their collars so when one collar detonates or detects no pulse, its corresponding collar friend does likewise.
The terrorists are led by the last winner of the BR, Shuya Nanahara. He got pretty fed up with the antics of the government and declared war against all adults. This made the government mad, and they decided to alter the BR game for once and make the schoolies go after the terrorists.
Personally, I think that this is one of the best movies I have seen to date. I guess that some people may find that the plot seemed to be a little too farfetched in as the government sending a bunch of children to war, but movies like this are helped along in their progression by the development and portrayal of the characters and I think that this is one of the best portrayals I have seen in a movie for a very long time.
After the first movie, the basic plotline is famous throughout the world. Children are send to fight to the death to teach the youth of modern Japan that there is no use in fighting the system as it only leads to fighting eachother.
The film is also deliberately and sometimes very cruelly comical.
I dont think that there was any lapse in the storyline of this movie, and just like its predecessor, it managed to pique my interest and keep it steady throughout the whole movie.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? Good review, possibly could have had a little more info. Ive seen the battle royale films but am not all that keen, especially with the 2nd one set at christmas!
