Battle Beyond the Stars has one major factor going for it. That is this is the Seven Samurai in space or a re make of the Magnificent Seven. Poor farmers picked upon by evil bandits determined to take everything the worked so hard for. They decide it is time to do something about it so they band together and decide to hire some fast guns they cannot afford to help them fight. Good storyline which needs little treatment to make it work.
The film ... ...you know the one who played John Boy in the Waltons(Anybody remember his name i can't at the moment)as the poor farmer who decides to stand up, Robert Vaughn as the stylish gunslinger whos tyred of bieng a mercenary and George Peppard who starts of with the whats in it for me attitude but changes in the end. Advantages: Good cast, script, plot Disadvantages: Looks like it was done on the cheap
...had high asking prices.
As a result of paying off these two big actors the special effects suffered. A bit cheesey at times.
As is the Magnificent Seven, Battle Beyond the Stars is a good old film which once you start watching you can't turn it off. ...
