...First of all I would like to say that this film is not a remake of the original Planet of the Apes but instead is a “re-imagining” as Tim Burton, the director, likes to call it.
The movie is all about action with not too much time spent worrying about the plot; the plot is simple, man crash-lands on a planet inhabited by apes that are all against him. This film has some great set pieces with giant epic battles against apes and some superb special effects and scenery, also notable is the superb make up to make the actors appear to be apes. The scenery and make up give the film more realism and make it more enjoyable to watch, the ending however, ruins the film by trying to out do the original planet of the apes ending. Overall it is a good film if you are looking for a simple action movie but it lacks in other areas....

Advantages: Tim Burton vision. Excellent ape performances. Superb production values. Interesting story. Disadvantages: Bit more character/story development needed perhaps.
...Set around 200 years in the future, Planet Of The Apes follows Captain Leo Davison, who is in his spacepod when he loses his way from his spacestation in an electric storm. The storm whisks him away and he crash lands on an unchartered planet. Having survived the crash, he finds himself hunted down by apes, who, in a role reversal of real life, rule the planet, capturing humans for sport and running society.
Davison cannot believe what is happening as he is enslaved by the apes. He forges a relationship with a few humans and human activist apes and escapes the city in attempt to locate his space station and leave the planet. Maniacal ape leader General Thade highlights Davison's rebellious actions as a chance to gain permission from the Ape council to wipe out human existence on the planet for good. Thus ensues a battle between the ape...

...Went to see Planet of The Apes the other day, my little sister tagged along but that was okay. I didn’t see the old version of the movie but I heard such good reviews and so I had to see for myself what all the fuss was about. Bought my salty pop corn and a large drink and was all ready to judge for myself.
This movie has a basic plot; Mark Wahlberg crashes on this planet controlled by apes and throughout the movie he is on the run from the apes as he tries to find a way to get back home. But he has to escape General Thade acted by Tim Roth, he is the leader who has all this power and out of all the apes General Thade is the evil one out of them all. He has no feelings towards the humans and in this movie he is cold and heartless. He finds satisfaction in killing humans and sees them as a threat to his race. General Thade is scary...
