My Experience
If you have seen the 'Cocoon' film then you will recognise some of the characters in this film. This film is fun, and full of life. It is about a group of residents who are about to get kicked out of their apartment by developers, as they want to knock down them down and build new developments on the residents land. Admist this situation the residents become more in tune with their surroundings, and their fellow neighbours, which makes the story even more fun to watch, as it takes you a rollercoaster. The gathering of the characters in the apartment reflect a sense of community spirit, and in lost hope the little robots come to give a guiding hand to them, and to let them know, that hope is never lost, and to keep fighting for what you want, or in this case, where you live.
Advantages: Good clean fun Disadvantages: there was no sequel
Batteries Not Included is a rather old, yet timeless movie. It truly is an old fashioned family movie (clean fun, no foul language) and it is comedy in it’s best if not highest form. An alien species has crashed on earth. However, this alien species is really nothing more than miniature flying saucers. No oblong headed or three fingered aliens here. The miniature flying saucers are a life form unto themselves. The cast, though not necessarily notable, ... ...aging years, or their disabilities, while adding refreshing twists of comedy. The mosaic which is at the heart of this film, while common place, is the sole ambition of the mentally disabled character. The assistance of all the cast members, who alternately revile (humorously) and encourage each other, in “making all better” the damaged aliens so that they may return home, results in their decrepit and failing apartment building which has long fallen ...

Advantages: Cool little alien robots in a heartwarming tale for all the family. Disadvantages: None
I first encountered Batteries Not Included when i was about 5 years old and i remeber loving it then. I was captivated by the alien robots that arrive in an old appartment block due to be knocked down and the five tenants who are struggling to save it.
To this day Batteries Not Included remains one of my all time favourites and i accredit this to several reasons -
- Lead role performance by legendary Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn are perfectly ... ...back them all through the film (the part where the trashed cafe is rebuilt especially)
- Although made in 1987 the alien robots are thoroughly believeable and I would say even quite cute, allowing children of all ages to watch. - The storyline is well scripted and flows beautifully around love, fear, happiness and even deep sorrow, with some scenes that i always find deeply moving (The hospital 'He's not Bobby' scene *sob*)
A wonderfully made movie ...

Advantages: strong cast Disadvantages: sometimes over sentimental
As fantasy adventure films go, this is one of the best, sure it's not as good as the likes of ET, but it is a lot of fun with a good story behind it.
Starring real life married couple Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy it combines comedy, action, drama and even manages to tug on the heart strings (like all good fantasy adventures should).
It's about a group of robot aliens who help out residents of an appartment block who are on the edge of eviction ... ...nothing to get them out. Each resident has their own unique problems to overcome, and each believe that the aliens have arrived because of them.
The special effects are dated compared to today's standards, but the film is definetly worth watching if you don't want to get into a film with a complicated plot, or you just want to occupy the kids for a while.
The cast are great and kids will love the fantasy element. Running through the story is the ...

Advantages: funny, enteraining, great storyline Disadvantages: characters needed more explaination
The film is the set in new york where five ordinary people need a miracle. The apartment block tennets find aid from alien mechanical life forms, which help save their building from demolition. the story lines within the film are good, but characters needed a little extra to explain them more.
the production team is outstanding, with Spielberg, Kennedy, and marshall all doin a fanastic job with this film.
jessica tany and hume cronyn stole the ... ...done well. The film is very fun and has a nostalgic trip to it. while it could use some development, the overall film is a must see. i remember this film from the age of about 6 when my dad sat me down and made me watch it, ever since then i have loved the film.
A great film for all the family to see. ...
