heights. Shark Repellent Batspray, costume-removing Batpoles, a contraption that dehydrates political figures into coloured powder, and endless childishly easy conundrums. Bringing the primary-coloured show to the big screen was a natural move, since sets, costume and casting were all in place. But what elevates the movie above the series? Is it the wonderful new toys--the Batcopter, Batboat and Batbike? Is it the OTT direction, taking the Dynamic Duo on location far more than usual? Or is it the electrifying one-upmanship between Burgess Meredith (Penguin), Cesar Romero (Joker), Frank Gorshin (Riddler) and Lee Meriwether (a new Catwoman since regular Julie Newmar was busy elsewhere)? As Commissioner Gordon says, "The sum of the angles of that rectangle is too monstrous to contemplate!" Really, the best of the movie's magic is to be found in the sheer glee Adam West and Burt Ward exhibit in playing for the big screen. This was the most exciting event in their careers. And it shows in their colourful, zestful performances. On the DVD: Batman: The Movie on disc includes an affectionate commentary from the two stars ("Oh lookee!" says West repeatedly), after which the duo are heavily involved in the wealth of additional material, even recording dialogue for the interactive animated menus. Seeing them on screen in the 16-minute featurette might be a shock, though. In the restored 1.85:1 film print they look much better! Additionally there's a five-minute "Batmobile Revealed" featurette with designer George Barris, a trailer page with some very humorous inclusions and two large galleries of behind-the-scenes photos.--Paul Tonks

...Tim Burton did an excellent job of remaking the comical 1960 versions of Batman. All the actors were very well selected and I was very glad to hear when the movie was to be released that Prince wasn't selected to be Batman/Bruce Wayne (what a laugh that would have been) much to Prince's disappointed. Michael Keaton was the best out of all the Batman's and no one but no one could have played the Joker as good as Jack Nicholson. If you have never seen the first Batman film then it really is worth watching because the acting, Cinematography , atmosphere and music is very "Batman like" all the way. Its a shame that all the other Batman films turned out to be such flops because I truly believe that they could have been more careful with the way they made the sequels ....

Advantages: Better acting than Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, better costuming Disadvantages: none that I can see
...From the day I first saw this movie I couldn't help but notice that Christian Bale makes the perfect Batman. The actor has this dark aura about him that I can't exactly put my finger on that I think could be found in many young actors now if they were to audition to be the new batman.
The movie is a huge step up from the terrible mistakes which were Batman and Robin and Batman Forever. This time the costumes were good, the acting was good, and I actually enjoyed Katie Holmes in it even though for some reason I have been a bit prejudiced to her since Dawson's Creek and several other teenage movies she starred in in that era.
As for the plot of the show, it's exactly like what the name suggests. It's about how Batman was made.
I say buy it ;)...

...Batman Begins is the first Batman film to feature the Dark Knight instead of a cartoony comic book Batman. This movie is so good, so entertaining, I feel foolish for having liked the first Batman as much as I did. Christian Bale makes Michael Keaton look like a wuss. Bale is now the best Batman ever projected onto a screen. For the first time, film audiences can understand why criminals are afraid of Batman, Bale plays him menacingly and angrily ... scary as hell.
And it's not merely a great Batmanmovie. it's one of the best Batman stories I've experienced of any kind, period. Featuring a theme of fear - how to face it, conquer it, use it to your advantage - on all sides of the story and from all the characters ... this screenplay kicks ass. They reached an unprecedented level of success in terms of creating the illusion...
