...set contains the first 4 Batman films, and the great thing about this box set is that it is cheaper than buying the films individually, and it chronicles the change in the Batman genre, from dark and moody (Burton), to more slapstick and comic-book like (Schumacher).
And so we begin with Batman (1989). This is not an origin story, like Batman Begins, instead, the film picks up with Batman already well established as a masked vigilante, putting the ... ...a bell tower showdown.
Batman is a very dark affair, but watching it, even now, it's not difficult to see why this film became (at the time) one of the top 10 highest grossing films ever. Burton paints a dark, decrepit, devastating Gotham City, whilst Michael Keaton was born to play the dark knight. Jack Nicholson, as usual, steals the film with one of the great super-villain displays, as the demented Joker. Next to Batman Returns, which sees the ...

Batman Returns Review ofBatman (Movie Box Set)by
bilbob20
Advantages: Batman The Movie Disadvantages: Batman And Robin
...the city. Batman Returns followed on the heals of the first film with Tim Burton and Michael Keaton returning to the fold. Joining them here is a new array of villains headed up by Christopher Walken as Max Shreck, the respected millionaire who is dumping chemical toxins into the city's sewers, Danny De Vito as the hideous Penguin who was dumped into the city's sewers himself as a baby and now rises back to the city's streets in a campaign to become ... ...Hingle as Commissioner Gordon.
Batman Forever has Val Kilmer taking over Batman duties, with Joel Schumacher lending his far more colourful vision to the film. Tim Burton's dark gothic vision is but a memory as Jim Carrey's The Ridler and tommy Lee Jones's Two Faced lend mayhem and madness in. There is a variance of beautiful women along for the ride this time as Drew Barrymore has a pointless cameo, and Nicole Kidman pre-acting chops as the lovely ...

Advantages: Has all the Batman films you need, making it cheaper to buy it altogether Disadvantages: Could have been released a bit earlier
...excellent film of its time. Batman is played by Michael Keaton and the Joker is played by Jack Nicholson.
This film features 'the Joker' as Batman's first real arch enemy. This film is being remade into "The Dark Knight (2008)," which is more up-to-date with the modern technology generation. However, the "Batman (1989)" is still a classic. This film is most remembered by fans other than being the 1st film because it is the origins of Batman. How ... ...the revenge, avengence side of Batman whereas the latter ones are about saving and protecting the innocent people of Gotham City.
The second one: "Batman Returns" is an excellent follow-up to smash hit "Batman." Micheal Keaton makes his second debut, with the addition of Danny De Vito as 'the Penguin,' and Michelle Pfeiffer as the 'Catwoman.' This time Batman encounters the Penguin and the Catwoman. A very interesting, emotion and exciting film ...

Tom Kreffer Review ofBatman (Movie Box Set)by

Advantages: Tim Burton's films Disadvantages: nipples....................
...good package, all the old Batman films in one chunky box set that should have the fans foaming at the mouth. It has both Tim Burtons darker take on the Dark knight as well as Shumacher’s take on the Bat. As far as the films go, the first two are very good films. Burton, as with all his films adds his blend of darkness mixed with high-octane action very well. Batman Forever and Batman Returns are very different from the first two. They decided to ... ...As far as the DVD's are concerned there's not a lot as well. The special features are lacking plus you don’t get the best Batman of all, Batman Begins. If you’re a hard-core fan then get the double disk individual versions, they both look better but contain more features. ...

Advantages: All the classic Batman films together at last Disadvantages: Already seems outdated compared to the new Batman Begins
...to watch the progression of Batman from the earliest battles with the Joker in the original Batman to his huge battle with Freeze in Batman & Robin. This Quadrilogy is riddled with famous faces, most interesting are the villans. Jim Carrey lets his natural insanity flow perfectly into the character of the Riddler and even Arnie's usual woodenness fits the character of Dr. Freeze rather well. Although undoubtedly the best character is Michelle Pfeiffer's ... ...Halle Berry). Each story line is individual but holds true to the comics from its whacky villans and their brightly coloured goons down to Batman's limitless supply of uniquely useful gadgets. Definatly a good buy, as you can watch them over and over and you don't really have to watch them in order. ...
