...for the Columbia label (the musical home of jazz legend Miles Davis), this DVD is a record of their performance, a report in the L.A. times said of the show "trumpeter Chris Botti's performance, was an impressive step forward for a performer who seems to possess all the qualities of a breakout musical star, visually charismatic, musically engaging, appealing personable".
His band for the show was as follows: - Shane Fontayne (guitar) Harvey Jones (keyboards) Jon Ossman (bass) Karen Teperberg (drums) Everett Bradley (percussion) and sitting in on a couple of tracks on keyboards Jason Rebello and guest vocalists Sting on a couple of songs and Shawn Colvin adding her vocal magic on 2 tracks.

Advantages: In depth look at the album. Extra material for DVD. Disadvantages: Not long enough!
...Jones - Guitar, Glen Matlock - Bass and Paul Cook - Drums), plus manager Malcolm McLaren and graphic artist Jamie Reid, discussing the origins of how the group came together and started rehearsing to build up some songs for a live set and ultimately, to record an album. You notice that John Lydon in particular has lost none of his conviction and fire, still coming across as articulate and intelligent. Also, you can see throughout the DVD, that all the personalities associated with the band, have calmed down a bit with age so all the comments are given in a relaxed and very good humoured fashion with a lot of hindsight.

...; and “Cum on Feel The Noize” ? Apart from the odd funny one-liners and a scene filmed aboard an old war time fort used by a pirate radio station, all I remember was a bleak, depressing grey film.
The film wasn’t particularly well received at the time by most critics and Slade fans. Coupled with my own ever fading memories of Flame, I avoided the rare TV screenings over the years, until I decided to buy the DVD recently and give it another chance. I’m glad I did.
Slade were always far more intellegent than their on stage presence suggested. Noddy Holder and Jimmy Lea were talented songwriters and the band were expertly managed by Chas Chandler. Ex Animals bass player Chas was the man responsible for bringing Jimi Hendrix to the UK and when he suggested Slade make a movie, everyone that mattered took it seriously...
