Basic Instinct 2 has been a film that I have been waiting to see since the first film came out; however it was very disappointing that it didn’t carry on from the first film. However the film does continue about the life of the novelist Catherine Trammell played remarkably by Sharon Stone. This film has a brilliant opening, as it starts of with Catherine speeding through the streets of London using the hand of her boyfriend to play with herself. Just from this introduction you can see that it has a very sexual nature, which can be very offending at times during the film, as it certainly offended me in parts. However as the car spins out of control they crash in to the river, and again the investigation of murder, and her being the most suspected, the film begins. She is then assigned to a psychologist (Played by David Morrissey) to access her mental state. After the pair meet, there are many people beginning to die, that are connected to both Catherine and the psychologist Michael Glass. The film has a very twisted ending, which was very enjoyable, and the characters are remarkable, however the film doesn’t compare to the first Basic Instinct.
The casting was good choices, as Sharon Stone plays this character to perfection, and really leaves the audience to believe something that may not be true. However I would change the casting of Michael Glass, even through David Morrissey is a good actor I didn’t feel that he was right for the part. The director wasn’t the best choice for the film, he has directed some unmemorable films like City by the sea and Rob Roy. I think the film was really let down by the direction.
The film won 4 wards and was nominated for 3 others, some of these awards included worst picture and worse screen play, which can really some up the film. The film was enjoyable to a extent, however the DVD lasted 114 mins which was a downfall to the film, it was too long an d the DVD became so boring that it was turned of.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.
Advantages: Dreadful acting, terrible direction, woeful production values and abysmal script Disadvantages: It made me laugh, though I don't think it was supposed to
