Barclay James Harvest - Caught Live (DVD)

...DVD Review If you are into contemporary jazz or simply just want to hear something new and refreshing, this DVD will surely captivate your heart as it has captured mine. Michael Buble (I cannot find the special 'e' character to denote a specific pronunciation of his last name. But yeah, it is pronounced with two syllables) who has I believe brought back to life Jazz in its more refreshing tune was sensational in this concert of his in Wiltern Theater in L.A. sometime in 2005. He was just so charming singing some hits of the past breathtakingly effortless. This concert just made me love Michael Buble more. I especially like Michael Buble's duet with Laura Pausini on "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine." ...Please. It's a weird way of perforing but for the six odd minutes the crowd are captivated and by the time Please Please Please is revisited, the crowd are ready to go bonkers once again. 8. The Night Train Cruelly sampled in the 90s by Kadoc for a euro-house version, this is the original. "All aboard: the night train", pipes Brown at the beginning or a largely intrumental foray into early soul/r n b. OVERALL --------------- The music is very dated and the appeal limited. However, there's no faulting the Famous Flames' musicianship and Brown's vocal expertise. Not really an album for those new to James Brown's work, but nevertheless am interesting insight to the era before "pop music" really got going. ...Barclay James Harvest sought success through a mixture of progressive pomp and pastoral melodies. Their investment in tours with a full orchestra and the mystifying lack of success had meant a gradual shift of styles in search of a hit. The band even recorded a single under a pseudonym but anyone who heard the B side would have known whodunit. By the time XII came along the band were clearly at a crossroads. Their search for success meant a move towards recording shorter, punchier songs. This was the last record featuring keyboard maestro Woolly Wolstenholme.His departure changed the musical outlook of the group, and led to a hybrid of pomp and disco which gave them some success in Germany and other parts of the continent but made their old fans groan with dismay.
