I suffer from anxiety attacks on a regular basis, iam unable to go out or to work without taking a million pills to calm me down(its a pain ).My anxiety councelor recomended that i take up yoga to try to calm myself down,so i took her advice a bought Barbara curries-power of yoga. I purchased it at Tescos about 7 mnths ago and it cost £10.99 which i thought was a good price for a video.
Barbara currie is a 55yr old with a 21yr old body,(its nothing like my 21yr old body but there is still hope for me yet). She is a trained nurse and television yoga expert.
Apparently Madonna swears by it,Geri Halliwells new figure is due to it and Sting has been doing it for yrs(personally i think Geri,s new body looks like she hasnt hit puberty yet).
It also contains a 2001 diet planner that you use along with the video,But i seemed to have lost it somewhere down the line so i cant really comment on it, sorry.
This video allows everyone to join in the fun of yoga, whatever shape, size or age you are.It has 52 movements in the whole video,(it doesnt sound much but when you do the video it feels like 522)It focuses on diferent parts of your body to be worked on individually at your own pace,it also very good for your mind and spirit.
It is split up into 4 differnt sections:
10 minute tone up Transform and re-energise your whole body, tighten your tum, tone your thighs and firm your bum.You need to do this first thing on a morning on an empty stomach.
10 minute power workout This section will tone up and slim down all parts of your body.
35 minute power training This section attacks the promblem areas,it will help firm your upper arms and chest, tone your stomach, midriff, bums and legs.
20 minute power stretching This firms your upper arms, thighs and abs but at the same time releases tension from your neck ,back and spine. It ends in a deep relaxation sequence to help you totally unwind.
My view:
The 10 minute tone up i found to be easy to do,although i was very stiff to start with, the more you do the more your body stretches and the easier it becomes. The excercises were simple to follow and pretty straight forward and just about everyone can spare 10 mins on a morning to do this one( i do it when my son is in his high chair having his breakfast)
The 10 min power work out i found alot harder to do , the excercises arnt difficult but you can really feel them working and it does hurt a little bit(also i keep forgeting to breath, whicn doesnt help)
35 min power training felt like it lasted a life time , this section is really really difficult to do ,you need excellent balance and strengh(i lay on the floor for most of this section,or had a cigarette while i was waiting, not very healthy i know but weve all done it)
The final section 20 min power stretching. It felt like this section was really stretching every thing it felt great, like i was releasing all my stress. Then you get to the relaxing sequeunce, you lie on the floor close your eyes and listen to what she says , her voice is very calming and makes you forget about all the excercise you have just done, you picture yourself in the sea floating away(which worried me a little bit as i cant swim)but it was still very relaxing,i could have easily gone to sleep.
Any way,the next day i suffered , i felt like i had been trampled on by a herd of elephants but as they say no pain ,no gain.
I really enjoy doing this workout,it does relax you, tones up the body, and makes you more flexable too(great for in the bedroom). I would recomend it for someone who is willing to do the work and stick to it,and remember the more you do the easier it gets.(just hope i look like that when iam 55)
