Bananas in Pyjamas return in this Special single episode DVD. B1 and B2 and thier friends celebrate the Bananas birthday. This is one of my nieces favourite Banana in pyjama DVD's and I'd say it probably gets viewed alot more times than the others. We had this before in a VHS format as it used to be my brothers and as they got passed on, the video finally gave out and went from being barely viewable to not at all. So my lovely uncle in america sent over a huge crate of all the dvd's we had given him a list of to replace the old VHS versions. This is super as we've got some fabulous DVD's that arent even avalible in region 2 format yet. And I think the best birthday gift my dad ever got was our fantabulous redion wide DVD player/ recorder. I'm not sure exactly what we would do without it!
Cover: The front cover is a bright blue and purple design, where a picture photo of B1 and B2 in their blue stripey PJ's are featured in a box border frame. The Certificate classification ( U ) is also printed on all sides of the box. The reverse gives a synopsis and pistures of the gang, as well as a barcode, DVD info and breakdown.
DVD: As previously mentioned it's a U classification and comes in a dvd box, theres only one disc and has only one DVD extra which is a bonus scenes type of thing with the Bananas. In this dvd it's all about the Bananas birthday, it's entitiled ''Banana splits and Teddy bear tea party'' a really good storyline and great fun to watch, even for us big kids! Aimed at 2 to 6 year olds, Hannah who is 6 this october, can't get enough of it. She even knows most of the songs off by heart and can be caught singing them all over the house and even in the bath! The DVD starts with the sing song intro as per the television programmes and then starts on the episode. The story tells how two party's are planned for the Banana's birthday, because there are two bananas and so surely two parties are needed? However kitchen mishaps and much confusion mainly caused by a lack of communcation between the friends means that both parties look set to be a complete failure. But worry not, eventually every thing works out with a little co-operation and teamwork. The result is a wonderfull birthday surprise for every one! Good songs and I'd say a much sharper picture than that on the vhs format. Loved by toddlers and in my opinion isn't a bad episode at all. Very cute and an enjoyable watch for a childrens programme. Recommended for both genders of toddler.
Overall a 4 star rating, only let down by a lack of songs, there could be a few more. Appart from that it was actually not a bad DVD, both in regard to quality and storyline. A cute little present or addition to any little ones collection. Thanks for reading, best wishes, mintz x x
