Today I want to introduce you a movie which my sister-in-law recommended to me... = The story ======= The story is told by a grandmother who takes a walk with her granddaughter and her dog through a park. There they found a monument of a dog named Balto whose story is the foundation of this cartoon. Baltos half being a wolf is why the sledge dogs have expelled him from the village, but he still dreams about taking part on a sledge-dog-race. This is what the arrogant leading-dog Steel wants to prevent at all costs. Only the doggirl Jenna who belongs to the small girl Rosie does not look down on Balto and handles him as each every dog.
However, then the children of the village become so sick that they need urgently the medicine from another place which is not to be reached because of the strong snowfall on one of the usual ways. Steel is supposed to get now the saving medicine with his sledge, but through his arrogance he brings not only his team, but also the medicine and with that the children into danger. Balto wants to save it all, but Steel is so faced and full hate to him that he does not want to let he through with that... *****************************== Basic facts ======== The 1995 of Universal produced film is about 75 minutes long. Prices at Amazon: Video £5.99, DVD £8.99.
Regie......................Simon Wells Music.....................James Horner *****************************== My opinion ======== The drawings are totally sweet very beautifully of course and in spite of that. They guarantee for one discovering human emotions in every figure and thus her being able to assess all of them immediately correctly. Also the a little banged dogs from Steels worry so next to the clumsy gander of Boris with his Russian accent team as well as the two undefinable cute animals for some laugh. Also to the smiling, but in a rather sweet way the small Rosie and the first advances are between Balto and Jenna. It is in addition immediately clear that Jenna has a heart of gold, passes during Steel immediately as typical bad boy and is recognizable to Balto as a blunt brillant.
The story is ingenious all but to 100 % since really already more often was made a film the children-in-danger-problem, but to tell the whole one from the viewpoint of the dogs, is at least once something other. Here also a feeling of rage at the insidious Steel and fear around the children is implied next to the tension while the romantic relationship between Balto and Jenna which is already indeed somehow compulsory is being driven forward simultaneously, but nevertheless it is giving the last polish to the movie. How wear out the whole must go out is presumably of the beginning of course, what I find a little pitiful, also when I like generally rather happy ending's.
The music adapts just as beautifully to the film as the alignment in the case of which I think it a little pitiful that here completely song was renounced is suitable. In spite of that Baltos different feelings becomes very beautifully clear, not appertained there he either so very to the dogs of the village to wild wolves yet. His being-differently is used very beautiful in order to illustrate as devastatingly and unfairly prejudices can be, which I find an important lesson - and that not only for children. *****************************=== Conclusion ========= Because I like the film with his beautiful drawings and the always suiting music very well and also a learning-effect is available to me, it gets a clear recommendation already, but because everything is very foreseeable unfortunately, I can only rate it with four stars.

Advantages: A good quality film for all the family (unless your dad's an animator), the quality is good Disadvantages: The story is a little weak and cheesy, And it feels rushed.
