"We three Fossils vow to put our name in the history books, because it is ours, and ours alone, and nobody can say it's because of our grandfathers"
With these words, three orphans embark on an exhilarating journey through the world of show business.
Set in 1930s London, Ballet Shoes tells the inspiring tale of Pauline (Emma Watson), Petrova (Yasmin Paige) and Posy Fossil (Lucy Boynton), who are adopted by an eccentric explorer, "Gum" (Richard Griffiths), and raised as sisters by his selfless niece (Emilia Fox) and her nurse (Victoria Wood). Each of the girls has a dream to fulfil; Pauline longs to be an actress, Petrova yearns to be an aviator, and Posy seems born to be a ballerina.
But when "Gum" disappears, the money runs out. The feisty, ambitious and devoted Fossils find they must fight to survive.. ...

General
The Russ Hill, Chatwood, is a 2 star hotel, with just over 150 rooms. It advertised in some places as a 3 star hotel, and can only be described as fast food style in a hotel. A MacHotel so to speak. We stayed here when waiting to fly out on holiday last year, and also when we returned.
It was an online purchase from a hotel selling group and it was I have to say very cheap to purchase. You buy your room (only) no breakfast provided. The hotel is primarily catering for those going on package holidays. You can book your car in for a holiday stay also. We flew in from Belfast so did not have to avail of this service. They have lots of parking space and I got the impression that this was a major income stream for the Hotel.
There was no porter service, no lift and are room was some distance from ...
Advantages: Great Ballet - great music- wonderful dancing Disadvantages: no ballet is as good on dvd as live- filming of ballets from russia is inferior
I saw this ballet live many years ago and the music and dancing by the Bolshoi is exciting and wonderful.
Irek is one of the strongest male dancers in the world- one of the greats, and this is the role where he stated he lost half a stone during the performance- so much energy demanded in the role.
The two ladies - his beautiful wife, and the seductive partner of Krassus (his enemy) are outstanding. The music includes the beloved theme used in the onedin line in the 70s ( that everyone bought as soon as they heard it used for the tv series.)
A must for the collection of great ballets owned by any ballet lover! A rare and wonderful treat where a great star shines. ...

DVD Description
Filmmakers Dan Geller and Dayna Goldfine pay tribute to the revolutionary 20th Century dance troupe Ballets Russes in this enthralling documentary. From their humble origins as Russian refugees residing in turn-of-the-century Paris, to dazzling feats of artistry, this documentary maps the company's illustrious career right up until its demise in the 1950s and '60s (brought about by rising costs, rocketing egos, outside competition, and internal mismanagement). Culled from archive footage and infused with juicy anecdotal interviews from many of the company's glamorous stars, BALLETS RUSSES treats modern audiences to a rare glimpse of the phenomenon that transformed the face of ballet for generations to come.
