To anyone who doesn't know who bad religion is they are a punk band that have been around since 1980. They are from Southern California and have both personal and political songs.
This DVD contains 31 of Bad Religions most popular songs with a couple of minutes of interviews every 2 or 3. They only miss out stuff from Into the Unknown, No Substance and The New America, which I think was a good idea considering how bad they are. Every other album is covered but I wish that they had played a couple more from Suffer or at least chose 2 better songs.
There are more songs from The Empire Strikes First than any other album because this was recorded not long after it was released and they are all in the first half of the DVD for some reason. Tim from Rise Against comes on to sing the hip hop bit in Let Them Eat War he kind of just shouts it but it’s not as bad as it sounds. I wouldn’t say that they chose their best songs but almost with the only two that I don’t like along the way and the piano version of Cease.
The interviews are with all the current band members some fans and there is even a bit with Brett’s parents. They cover everything that people might find interesting and even talk a bit about the next album. There’s not much stage banter I think most of it was cut out so it didn’t get annoying after you’ve already heard it a few times which is fair enough. They left a bit in were Greg’s trying to be funny while changing microphones which is a bit annoying.
It was recorded with ten cameras and the picture hardly ever stays in one place for more than a few seconds, which might get on some peoples nerves and because it was recorded over two nights there are continuity errors with Brett’s glasses disappearing and reappearing and other similar things. Sound quality is excellent and you can hear back up vocals clearly. The bands performance is also excellent. Someone had the good idea of letting you play it without the interviews interrupting the songs.
There is an extras section on the DVD that has two really amazing TV appearances from 1980 and 1982, six music videos and quite a big photo gallery. If you like Bad Religion you should buy this.
