successfully as Bad Girls. Series two of the women's-prison drama offers essentially more of the same, but the formula is so well honed that it would be churlish to complain. The main characters and storylines are still there, with the relationship that began between Nikki and Helen (Mandana Jones and Simone Lahbib) at the end of the first series brought eloquently and stylishly to centre stage--a result of both superb writing and performance. The show is given fresh impetus by the constant introduction of new characters. The resulting plot lines see the growing influence of the superb Yyvonne, the unhinged prison officer Di and a new wing governor Karen Betts added to the equation, all with explosive results. The mixture of humour and drama is, as ever, played to perfection. On the DVD: Having set an impressive standard with the DVD release of series one, Bad Girls continues to lead the field for television drama releases. Again the packaging of the four-disc set is handy but extremely stylish and comes with a whole series of extras. The documentary this time follows the cast on a promotional trip to South Africa and there are two galleries of photographs, deleted scenes, production and cast notes and a mass of outtakes that beg the question how they ever actually managed to make one programme, let alone the 13 included here, without the whole cast convulsing with laughter. --Phil Udell

Advantages: Helen And Nikki snogging and more? Great programme, you should know. Disadvantages: Hmm, 16 hours of Bad Girls...no wonder why I am so tired.
...TV, yep, you guessed it, Bad Girls (they did just win an award for best drama as well, ya know, so there’s prove, so there.) Being a devotee with this programme, I went out and brought all the box sets as soon as they hit the shops, which was of course on VHS a couple years back, it provided me with well over 36 hours of Bad Girls (whey hey). Then, recently I stumbled across the DVD version of the series (why do they release them years later…grrr), ... ...the link to the official Bad Girls web site. Open all that up and hey presto, 4 nice DVD’s, with some colour pictures printed inside of the cast. Nicely packaged.
So what are you waiting for? At £34.99 this was defiantly worth it, even if you do only buy it for *that* Helen and Nikki picture ;).

Advantages: Lots of lovely Helen & Nikki scenes; the gorgeous Alicya Eyo Disadvantages: Disadvantages?! What disadvantages!?
Bad Girls is without a doubt the best programme on the telly. That's not just me, that's the 8 million strong audience the show pulls on a regular basis.
Series 2 consists of 13 episodes, all about 48 minutes long (the ads on telly bring it up to an hour). It features all the classic BG characters - controversial couple Helen and Nikki, 'evil personified' Shell Dockley, the stunning Denny Blood, b*stard Jim Fenner and "top dog" Yvonne Atkins. While ...
