I first watched this film about three years ago when a mate I was visiting put it on. He couldn't believe I had never heard of it let alone seen it, the way he was talking, it was the biggest film of the year so I thought I'd give it a go to see what I was missing.

This is a film about two Miami cops, Mike Lowry (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence). They are members of the drugs squad for Miami Police Department. Mike (Will Smith) is a single, rich boy who always gets the ladies and thinks of himself as a bit of a fashion icon, he is funny cool, cockey and pretty much invincible. Marcus (Martin Lawrence) is a family man with a wife and kids, and does the job to earn a wage to keep his family, he brings a sense of responsibility to the partnership. That said he is still funny, cockey and doesn't take any messing when it comes to taking out criminals. It is a very strange partnership but I think it works very well.

Anyway, the plot - in amongst all the comedy and action there is actually a story, although a very stereotypical one. The crime fighting duo are chasing a drug lord and his gang and as always, there's a girl involved, well actually two! A friend of Mike's, (who might have been more given the chance) gets mixed up with the gang and is killed because she has seen too much. The other girl is a friend of the now dead girl (sorry to be blunt), and after hearing so much about the wonderful "Mike Lowry" turns to him for help. When Lowry isn't available and the new girl witness, Julie Mot (Tea Leoni) will only speak to Lowry, Burnett decides that he will pretend to be Lowry! When a not too happy Lowry finds out they try to keep up the deception by coming up with an "undercover" story, which will only last so long The search for the criminals then becomes a murder investigation just to add a bit of a twist. Along the way, they cause trouble, lots of damage carry out plenty of intimidation and generally cause chaos - excellent!! I won't spoil the story by telling you how it ends, but I will say that if you action or comedy you must definitely see this film.
The film is filled with attitude, and is a great watch, I would highly recommend it. I said earlier I had never heard of this film before, but I can tell you know with all honesty, this has become one of my favourite films of all time. It is definitely a classic! The only possible disadvantage to this film is purely its age. As it is quite old now it looks a little outdated compared to newer films and their special effects. This is only me being very picky though don't let it put you off - you know what they say the oldies are the best!!
