Right from the start you get an idea of what these two guys are like and it continues to succeed all the way through. ...barely gotten off the mark; Bad Boys, however, united Will Smith (in his breakout performance) and Martin Lawrence as the two mismatched cops, in amidst of the team's soon-to-be-trademark explosion; the film became an instant hit. If you've already seen the much more over the top (and far superior) sequel then you'll think the action in Bad Boys is much paler in comparison. I have to say I love this movie. From start to finish I do not find any parts boring or mediocre. The relationship between Smith and Lawrence is great, you almost believe that they have not been scripted during some of their little tiffs! It really is a pleasure to watch! Basically Smith and Lawrence are Detectives in Miami, and are polar opposites to each other. Smith is a rich player while Lawrence is a family man. There is a small case of mistaken ...
...in front of a witness (Tea Leoni). This brings much of the comedy value to the movie. Im not sure if this was intended to be a comedy, there is certainly enough great action sequences to indicate that this was not an essential part, but as the chemistry is so great between the two leads, it is difficult not to laugh at the situations the get themselves into.
