BACK TO THE FUTURE My favourite film of all time The film has a great start with Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) getting home by holding on to various vehicles whilst being on his skateboard. He then goes to see his friend Dr Emmett Brown - 'Doc' (Christopher Lloyd) a slightly crazy scientist. He has just invented a time machine using a DeLorean car. Whilst there, the Doc gets shot by some Libyan terrorists from whom he stole the plutonium to make the the time-machine work. Marty manages to escape in the DeLorean. When the car reaches 88mph it travels back in time to the year 1955 unbeknown to him. Whilst in 1955, Marty manages to cross paths with his Father and Mother and susequently change the future, which does not include him. He also finds the Doc, convinces him that he's from the future by telling him about the flux capacitor, and that he needs help to get back there - but not before changing the future once again to get his parents to fall in love. The only thing that will make the time-machine work is 1.21 gigawatts, and the only way they can get that in 1955 is from a bolt of lightning - but they don't know where and when lightning will strike, or do they? The film is absolute briliance!
BACK TO THE FUTURE II Not as good as the first - but still brilliant. At the end of Back to the Future, Doc comes to take Marty to the future stating that something needs to be done about his and his girlfriend's future kids. So, this film starts with Doc, Marty and Jennifer going to the year 2015. Whilst there, a series of events occur that change not only the future but the past! Marty gets hold of an old sports almanac that give him the results and dates of sports events that he could use to bet on back in 1985 and make a fortune. Somehow, enemy of Marty, Biff Tannen, gets hold of it and travels in the time-machine back to 1955 and gives it to himself (obviously a teenager then). When Marty gets back to 1985 everything has drastically changed, Biff has married his mother and has made his fortune from using the almanac. So, Marty then needs to go back to 1955 to retrieve the almanac and stop Biff from ever receiving it! A really clever sequel to the first one, where instead of a skateboard, Marty has a hoverboard. Michael J Fox plays himself in 1985, himself in 2015, aswell as his daughter and son of the future. Once again a fantastic film!
BACK TO THE FUTURE III Another great film but not as good as the first two. At the end of Back to the Future II, the doc has trouble and lands himself back in 1885. He manages to get a letter to Marty, telling him to destroy the time-machine and never come to find him. But Marty finds an old tombstone with the Docs name on it stating that he died in 1885. Marty then goes back to 1885 to rescue Doc. Once again, he bumps into relatives from that time as well as Biff Tannen's relatives. He is very nearly hanged but Doc saves him. He is then challenged to a duel by Biff's great-grandfather Buford Tannen (Mad Dog). The Doc falls in love with school teacher Clara Clayton so it is then down to Marty - or Clint Eastwood - as he calls himself in the film, to save the day and get them back to 1985.
The Back to the Future trilogy are absolute brilliance. I don't think I will ever tire of watching them. A strong line-up of great actors coincide with the fantasitc imagination of Robert Zemeckis.

I see you've posted this as a DVD review, but you've not mentioned the DVD features. Are there any extras? If so, what are they and are they any good? If you add to this, or if you change it to be posted as a "Film Only" review, which can be done by accessing "edit review" above the review and changing the drop down menu under the "Which format are you reviewing?" question at the bottom, please let me know and I'll re-rate.

Great review well laid out, helped me there was enough there not to spoil the plot. I find it hard to review these and have read the comments below but I wouldn't need all of that to get me to buy a film. I think that any film as good as the first is a hard act to follow and not many if any manage it, so VH from me it had enough. David
