Trilogy and The Batman Trilogy. Those series both went on to fourth instalments, making the collections seem just shy of complete, whereas here at least you know you're getting the lot. And the first thing the disc does is make up for the absence of decent cues on the original 1985 album by giving us for the first time "Skateboard Chase", "Clocktower Pt. 1" and "Clocktower Pt. 2 & Helicopter". This first suite sets a precedent by having a "Main Title" followed by one early sequence, and then the finale to the respective movie. Inevitably, this approach takes the listener through lots of heroic and grand statements of both the signature theme and Alan Silvestri's hugely enjoyable Back to the Future march. In other words, it all gets a little repetitive. (The thing to remember while listening, however, is that whether you own all three original albums or not, this condensed highlights format makes for a far less repetitive experience than playing the full scores back to back.) Thankfully, the romantic elements of number three allow a change of pace, and that movie's Western music is enormously entertaining (this is the original soundtrack, whereas episodes one and two are new recordings). As an attractive bonus at the end of the album is the suite Silvestri arranged for Universal Studio's ride; along with John Debney's respectful conducting and a buoyant performance from the RSNO, this shows that plenty of TLC went into the album's make-up. --Paul Tonks

and it's real testament to the quality of the Back To The Future trilogy that it all holds up so spectacularly well over twenty years since the first film appeared. The films, as you probably know, following the time-travelling antics of Marty McFly, played by Michael J Fox, and Dr Emmett Brown, brought wonderfully to life by Christopher Lloyd. Across the three films, Marty and the Doc head back to the old west, meet Marty's kids in the future, nearly ruin the meeting between his parents in the past, and all the while deal with the unwelcome interference of Biff Tannen and his family tree. Bluntly, for sheer excitement, these movies are hard to beat. Mixing in tightly woven scripts with good effects, lively direction and an endearing set of performances from a superbly-chosen cast, the whole trilogy is just tremendously good fun. Fox and Lloyd must take a good chunk of credit for that, as their on-screen partnership is in many ways the glue that sticks everything so firmly in place, but conversely, it feels odd singling them out when so much else has gone right. A worthy addition to any DVD collection, the Back To The Future Trilogy is what can happen when Hollywood really works. From the carefully layered screenplays through to the proliferation of standout moments, you can only hope that the occasional rumours of a fourth instalment continue to prove false. After all, how can the filmmakers possibly match their achievements with these three?--Simon Brew
Advantages: Good all round , light hearted entertainment , humorous , good cast Disadvantages: Possibly suffering from overexposure
...anyway. These films which date back to 1985, with the first offering being Back to the Future, were so much of the day. I have tried not to include any plot spoilers for the uninitiated.
BACK TO THE FUTURE I

Marty McFly, played by Michael J Fox, in his heyday is still at high school in America. His best friend is the local ageing and eccentric scientist, come loveable nutcase, Doc. Doc has been experimenting ... ...the ultimate in modern travel back in the 80's but all too soon died a death. After money troubles I think the manufacturer disappeared from the scene and the cars became history.
After a series of events Marty ends up back in 1955, in his hometown with his parents, to name a but few, back in their teen years. His presence looks set to destroy any romance they may have and in so doing jeopardises many things, including his birth and very existence ...

Back to the Future
This is the movie which started it all.
Starring in this movie were Michael J. Fox (as Marty McFly), Christopher Lloyd (as Dr. Emmett Brown), Lea Thompson (as Loraine McFly - Marty's mother), Crispin Glover (as George McFly - Marty's father).
Dr Brown and Marty McFly were very close friends, and Dr Brown invented a time machine out of a car (a De Lorean, no less) and during their test drive, ... ...the car, accidently sending him back into time into 1955 - thirty years prior to 1985.
During his time in 1955, Marty meets his parents and interupts their first meeting, therefore interfering with Marty's future - if his parents do not meet and fall in love, then he will never be born.
The rest of the movie is about Marty and Dr Brown trying to get Marty's parents back together and about Dr Brown trying to figure out a way to get the DeLorean ...

BACK TO THE FUTURE
My favourite film of all time
The film has a great start with Marty McFly (Michael J Fox) getting home by holding on to various vehicles whilst being on his skateboard. He then goes to see his friend Dr Emmett Brown - 'Doc' (Christopher Lloyd) a slightly crazy scientist. He has just invented a time machine using a DeLorean car. Whilst there, the Doc gets shot by some Libyan terrorists from whom he stole the plutonium to make ... ...car reaches 88mph it travels back in time to the year 1955 unbeknown to him.
Whilst in 1955, Marty manages to cross paths with his Father and Mother and susequently change the future, which does not include him. He also finds the Doc, convinces him that he's from the future by telling him about the flux capacitor, and that he needs help to get back there - but not before changing the future once again to get his parents to fall in love. The only ...

Back to the Future Trilogy
Back to the Future.
A completely original and brilliantly funny adventure film from the award winning team executive producer Stephen Spielberg and director Robert Zemickis.
By the time you watch the opening sequence of this film you know you are in for a treat.

One of Michael J Fox's best performances, especially singing on stage living out his dream to be a rock star playing Johnny be good! Christopher Lloyd is wonderfully cast in this role as his eccentric friend Emmett Brown bringing a big dose of humour to the film.
This is a great trilogy of family films, which even today 21 years after its release is as fresh as it was then. Its one ...
