Ok I think we would all agree that Bttf is the best trilogy that has ever been filmed. And now it is available on DVD. Yep that’s right, after putting it off time and time again it is now available to buy.
Bttf One When a young boy called Marty Mcfly (Michael J Fox) is called by his mad doctor friend and told to meet him at a car park the last thing he expected to see was a time machine. The story goes on to tell us about what happens when Marty goes back in time and accidentally interferes with his parent meeting putting his self existence in danger!(I don't want to go to much in to the plot incase I spoil it)
Extras This DVD is jammed with extras so here we go
1. THE MAKING OF BACK TO THE FUTURE-This is a small 3 or 4 minute film that tells you about how the film was made. It has many interesting parts to it and they explain things like how they built the town etc... A good little video
2. MAKING THE TRILOGY CHAPTER ONE- This is a small video of the cast and crew looking back
at making the film.
3. ALL NEW FEATURE COMMENTRY- This is by far one of the best-added features of the DVD. What it is is an interview with Robert Zemeckis (director) and Bob Gale. They discuss how they got the idea for the movie and many other great facts. This interview lasts the whole length of the movie. This is unlike many commentaries however, eg. The one on the haunting, as you don't get to hear the film as it plays. It is more like a radio interview and the film plays on the screen although you can't hear it.
4. DELETED SCENES- As the name suggests these are deleted scenes from the first movie. They are very interesting and some are hilarious.
5. ORIGINAL MAKE UP TESTS- In this film Michael J Fox, Lea Thompson and Crispin Glover play many characters. Eg. Marty not only places himself but also his dad and it is a real site to him with makeup on looking so old!
6. DID YOU KNOW THAT- Now this is an interesting feature. You are able to make it so that as the film plays little facts pop up in yellow writing allowing you to learn a few interesting facts.
7. STORBOARDS- These are the original story boards showing the original ideas behind the film.
8. OUT TAKES- These are when filming goes wrong. Some great moments here worth watching.
BACK TO THE FUTURE 2 In this you get to see Marty and Doc trying to fix the future. However as you can imagine things don't go to plan and they are left struggling to fix what they have done.(I don't want to go to much in to the plot incase I spoil it)
EXTRAS
1 BACK TO THE FUTURE FEATURETTE- This is a rare look behind the scenes of the movie. You get to see how they made the hoverboard scenes and many other interesting things. However can I just make clear, THE HOVERBOARDS IN THE MOVIE AREN'T REAL. The director says they are as a laugh and seems to have tricked millions!
2. MAKING THE TRILOGY- This shows the cast and crew discussing the making of the movie. Very interesting
3. OUTAKES- Some hilarious mistakes the cast have made when making the movie. A real hoot.
4. HOVERBOARD TEST- You get to see them practicing there hoverboards skills. A very short extra but is still quite good.
5. PRODUCTION ARCHIVES- This has lots of photographs, original storyboards and props.
6. STORBOARDS- More original storyboards are here just waiting to be viewed.
7. TRAILER-What movie would be complete without letting you view the trailer that make it a success.
BACK TO THE FUTURE 3 Ok so Marty has been in the present day and the future so know where? I'll tell you. In the wild Wild West and boy is this movie goood. The plot is slightly weaker than the other two movies but is still very good. When Marty ends up in the Wild West he has a slight problem. GETTING HOME.(I’m not going to say why there is a problem as it may spoil the film)
EXTRAS
1. MAKING THE TRILOGY- This is a great little extra featuring the cast and crew telling us about their experience.
2. OUTAKES- Yet more funny outtakes that are worth watching
3 DELTED SCENES- It is rather cheeky that they call it deleted scenes, as there is only one. I felt a little let down by that fact.
4. ZZ TOP MUSIC VIDEO- I think it is self explanatory
5. Trailer
All in all this is a great DVD deal that everyone should own. 3 great films for only £26!!
good site The Bttf site. This is like a shrine to the films and latest news. http://www.bttf.com
Just a wee note, It has been brought to my attention that there were problems when this film was changed to dvd format which means that some of the picture of some frames is missing. Won't annoy anyone but the huge fans though. You can read about it at the bttf forum on bttf.com
