BACK TO THE FUTURE PART 1 ------------------------- In the first installment of the time travelling adventure it is 1985 and Marty McFly (Michael J Fox)is about to undertake an unforgetable trip back to 1955 because Dr Emmet Brow (Christopher Lloyd) has built a plutonium powered time machine out of a Delorean.
When in 1955 Marty inadvertantly prevents his parents from falling in love and so he is on a race against time to make them fall in love so that he will be created in the future, otherwise his future will be vapourised and leave him trapped in the past. Now Marty must rely on a thunderstorm to get him back to 1985.
BACK TO THE FUTURE PART 2 -------------------------
The adventure continues in this sequel to the hit film Back to the Future. Almost as soon as Marty arrives back in 1985 he is found by Doc who says that there is trouble in the future with Martys future children, so they travel to 2015 to try and change his childrens fates. Sadly when they return to 1985 it is clear that someone has used the time machine to alter the past; Old Biff from 2015 stole the machine to take back a sports fixtures book to the young Biff of 1955.
Now they are in an alternative 1985 where Biff is Rich, Married to Marty's mother and Marty's father is dead. Oh and Doc has been committed. Now they have to go back to 1955 to get the future back to normal again.
BACK TO THE FUTURE PART 3 -------------------------
Fulfilling
a life long fantasy Doc Brown now resides in the 1880's, but when Marty finds out that Doc dies in the old west he takes the time machine back to the 19th century to rescue Doc.
One problem, Doc is in love with the teacher Clara Clayton (played by Mary Steenburgen) so he can't think straight. Now Doc must decide whether to stay with the woman he loves and risk death or return with his friend to the future.
------------------------------------------------------ EXTRA FEATURES ------------------------------------------------------
Below is the list of extras, i have also made small comments on them and listed on which disc they can be found.
The Making of Back to the Future ******************************** This provided an interesting behind the scenes look at how the film was created and how the special effects were put into the film- interesting to watch as the film is over ten years old and computer graphics have come a long way since then but watching the effects in this movie you would think they were bang up to date.Features on Part 1 Only.
Making the Trilogy ******************************
This is an extra that again has mini interviews with the cast and crew and provides a real insight into the creation of this gem of a film, its also interesting to hear from the actors and their opinions and perceptions of the characters they play.Features a chapter each on Discs 1,2 and 3.
All New Feature Commentary **************************
My favourite feature on any disc is always the directors commentary as it can reveal many things- why certain scenes were cut, where the inspiration came from for some of the scenes and what was running through the directors head while it was in prodection. A real treat on any DVD Features on Disc 1 only.
Outtakes and deleted scenes ***************************
I always like these on a disc as they provide entertainment other than the film, its interesting listening to the commentary that goes with the deleted scenes and finding out why they were cut. Outtakes are good because it is always funny to watch the rich and famous mess up from time to time.Features on Discs 1,2 and 3.
Make-up tests *************
Anintersting look at the different make up and costumes that the characters were being considered to use. Features on Disc 1 only
I loved this feature as it provided insights into why certain songs were cjosen and also points out stuff in the film that probably would have gone unnoticed if it weren't pointed out; for instance,at the beginning of the film Doc Brown is showing Marty the time machine in the Twin Pines Mall car park, later in the film when Marty is in the past he runs over a Tree as he is leaving the farm he first drives into, at the end they are now in the One Pine Mall car park, intersting!!Features on Disc 1 only.
This section features photographs, original storyboards and props. This is intersting as it allows you to follow the making of the film from the initial concept straight through to the creation. Features on Discs 1,2 and 3.
Story Boards to Final Feature Comparisons *****************************************
An excellent feature because it allowed me to look at the original storyboards and see what was changed on them for the final film. Features on Discs 1,2 and 3.
Theatrical Trailer ******************
A must on any DVD nowadays, allows you to see how the film was marketed to the public at the cinema prior to the films release. Features on Discs 1,2 and 3.
Back to the Future Featurette *****************************
Very similar to The Making Of... It provides a look behind the scenes as the movie was being created. Features on Disc 2 only.
Hover Board tests *****************
I liked this because it was fun to see how they created the hoverboard for the second film and put it into action. Features only on Disc 2
ZZ TOP music video DOUBLEBACK *****************************
A nice extra feature in the form of a music video, good to watch and good to listen to, all in all good song. Features on Disc 3 only.
PACKAGING *********
Packaged in a fold out box; as mine was pre ordered it also included 4 Back to the Future Postcards.
VALUE FOR MONEY ***************
Excellent value for money at only £29.99 - i pre ordered so i only had to pay £20, good deal or what!!!
AVAILABILITY ************
The Back to the Future Trilogy Boxset is available at all good stores including HMV, MVC, MZTD, Our Price, and Virgin Megastores.
