Advantages: Star Studded Cast Disadvantages: Loses plot towards end
..., amongst other things, exploding homing grouse!
007 decides that to fight these agents, all agents wiil be known as James Bond 007, including the female agents!
I don't want to spoil it too much if you do find the film on the DVD shelves or on TV early one Saturday or Sunday afternoon. But I will say that the plot twists and turns more than a bendy coastal road, is very surreal and has lots and lots of recognisable faces.
Cast
-------
David Niven has been cast as the original 007, with Peter Sellars as Evelyn Tremble, a Baccarat expert who, once trained becomes 007. Joanna Pettet is Mata Bond (007) with Ursula Undress (OOPS! Slip of the fingers) Ursula Andress as Vesper Lynd (007) Following all the 007's yet?! Advantages: Great effects, a 'mortal' Bond, pretty ladies and a fast car! Disadvantages: No camp names for the girls, no cliched moments
..., but while the first one shows Bond as a retired Special Agent dragged back in to service to topple Le Chiffre's Baccarat ring, this one shows Bond as a new recruit. The characters are loosely similar, sharing names and so on, but the background story and twist in the tale towards the end are different.
In all, I think this is probably one of the best Bond's ever, certainly the best in a long time. Craig has made Bond his own, has added a shade that we've never seen in the character that we've never seen before, and he's made us think that Bond isn't necessarily always unbeatable, that he might, in fact, be mortal.
On the silver screen it would have been a blast to watch but I saw this on the 2-Disc Collector's Edition DVD, which includes the Chris Cornell music video to the film, how the Bond movie was put together and how Daniel Craig became...

Advantages: Sean Connery still has a fountain of charisma ; Great Villain ; A much better Felix Leighter than the original ; Much more humour than usual Connery offerings Disadvantages: Sean Connery looks dated ; A tired 80's re-make of the classic Thunderball film ; Farfetched plot ; Poor Bond girls ; Practically every notable element of the Bond saga is absent
...a surprise for you, it's a watch with laser on it, it came from a KGB defector, a charming chap, although, prone to melancholy, must be all that Vodka and English weather', and of course the quote that steals the film, 'Now your back Bond, I hope were going to see plenty of Gratuitous sex and violence', lol.
Never Say Never Again has none of the original cast due to them being in Octopussy at the time of course, which means the gritty relationship between Bond and M isn't the same, Moneypenny and Desmond Llewellyn are also absent, but the replacements do surprisingly well. The Bond girls are terribly poor it has to be said, one of the most important elements of Bond films and they really made a hash of this. Kim Basinger is absolutely appalling, her acting is so wooden its as if she doesn't even want to be there, as if someone's holding a gun...
