The idea behind this DVD is that it's something that really small babies will enjoy and will be stimulated by [if you're expecting this to turn your 4 month old into a genius you will be sadly disappointed, they'll still just lie there on the playmate dribbling, no matter how many times you put this on!]
I have three children with 18 months between each so I found the Baby Einstein DVDs a wonderful way to keep toddlers occupied for a few minutes whilst I was on the sofa feeding the baby.
The music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is played throughout the DVD. It is very soothing and the Baby Einstein company have compiled special 'child friendly' versions. There is a list in the DVD case describing which pieces are played during the DVD and we have since moved our children on to the full 'grown-up versions'. It's a lovely introduction to classical music and one that I would recommend for very young babies. For babies over 18 months old I would go for one of the other Baby Einsteins such as Baby Van Gogh [which is about colours].
Coinciding with the music are 'child friendly' images of toys, animals etc. As the images move quite slowly I find this DVD to be a valuable learning tool for my autistic 3 year old. I am able to clearly name objects for him and he has time to digest the information [and, hopefully, imitate the sound] before the image changes.
The DVD is a single disc and is produced by the Disney company. Special features include are a video tutorial and a 'toy chest' [a list of the toys used and where you can get them]. There is a 'concert hall' option which I use quite a lot where just the music plays. My 4 year old seems to find the music relaxing during his lessons.
This DVD is £11.98 from Amazon and is 27 minutes long. I think this is absurdly expensive for the length of the DVD but, then again, it is beautifully made and I wouldn't want to have a young baby watching TV for any longer than that [don't panic, if you are feeling really harassed there is a 'repeat play' option!].
The music is very appealing and the images really mesmerise young children [even my four year old doesn't mind it being put on occasionally. This DVD isn't the most thrilling watching for adults but then it's not for us really is it?!

Review of Baby Einstein - Baby Mozart - Music Festival (DVD)
Advantages: Great fun for my little one Disadvantages: Some of the products were a little dull
...is one of the best Baby Einstein titles on the market. It is aimed at younger babies and my son loved it. I don't quite know why but when I put it on he just sits glued to it.
The music is very nice and the images are also good although a few of the products looked a little strange to me. Basically the format is nice images with nice music. It's not rocket science but it seems to work.
There are a number of Baby Einstein products on the market ... ...other products on the market that are in a similar style as this but usually they just do not make the grade. Anyway if you need a DVD for your baby then this is rated high up there. I am off to try another in the series. Enjoy! ...
