Vendela Vida. An unmarried couple in their 30s, Burt (John Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolph), are expecting their first child. They live near Burt's parents, Jerry (Jeff Daniels) and Gloria (Catherine O'Hara), and hope that once the baby is born they will enjoy the proximity and support of its doting grandparents. When they discover that Jerry and Gloria have other plans and are shortly jetting off to live in Europe, Burt and Verona set off on their own voyage of discovery across America, looking for somewhere suitable to settle down and bring up their children. Verona falls pregnant, completely unplanned, and then Burts parents make the surprise announcement that they are moving to Belgium.. 3 months before the baby is born. This news rocks the couples world, the only reason that they moved to that area was to be close to Burt’s parents. Veronas parents died many years ago, which she doesn’t like to talk about, and now they have nothing keeping them there, neither of them are in jobs they want to do and they live in a small, dingy flat where the lights keep going out. They make the decision to travel around America visiting family members and friends to find the perfect place to settle down and raise their baby. The film follows them on this trip, and all the eccentric, caring, and different people they meet.
I really enjoyed the film, some of the people they met on their travels were really comical, quirky and wild, but at the same time completely believable. The film is quite an emotional rollercoaster for the couple, meeting people who have changed since last time they saw them, and also meeting and also people with their own troubles to worry about.
I liked Burts role. It was interesting to see John Kransinski in a serious film role, as I have only ever seen him in the comedy series “The Office”, and I thought he was wonderful in the film. He really fit the role and played the both the comical and serious scenes brilliantly. I haven’t seen Maya Rudolph act before, although she seems quite an accomplished actress on IMDB, and I really liked her performance too. The actors seemed to really compliment each other and they played the role of being a young couple in love perfectly.
I can imagine that this film isn’t for everyone. It is not very action packed and is more a quirky art house drama type film, with a wonderful mixture of comical and serious moments of a couple who are facing the reality of trying to find the perfect place to bring their child into the world, and also wanting to find a place so that they can be close by to the people they love.
The film was directed by Sam Mendes, who has directed many great films such as American Beauty, Jarhead and Revolutionary Road.
The film is 98 minutes long, and I thought this was a perfect length. The film held my attention throughout and I really enjoyed it. It has a 15 certificate due to strong language and sexual references.
The dvd of the film comes out on 1 Feb, and can be pre-ordered for £9.98 from Amazon. I highly recommend the film, I loved the story line and I thought the actors and performances were great.

I was curious what Sam Mendez would do after Revolutionary road,a film that i thought was well told. I was rather unimpressed with his American beauty but after watching Revolutionary road and now Awaywego,i have to say he knows what he is doing!
AwayWeGo is a simple film.A film about an expecting couple looking to move away from their previous home to a new place.Burt(an ordinary insurance sales person)and Verona suddenly make the decision of moving away after Burt's parents decide to move away to europe just before the due date of their child's birth.
The not so young couple have a few options and the treatment of the film somehow invites the audience to accompany them through their journey.Its a journey you don't mind taking,mainly due to the presence of such interesting characters.The character of Verona's ex-boss is truly ...

I know it's sad but I wanted this DVD as much as the children did. So knowing we were goingaway for a couple of weeks to a little retreat and a bit of peace and quiet I bought this DVD in order to hopefully help with that plan.
I bought the DVD in Tesco, for around £15, as at the time it was new in the charts. Prices will vary and go up and down according to what offers are on so it is worth having a look about either in the high street or online..

When you first get the DVD in you get a basic screen with a picture very similar to that on the case. I would describe it but Ciao have a picture of it - so look at the top of the screen!
Then you get the menu. Quite easy really - select the number of players, how many rounds and what difficulty you want it to be and away you go.
Up comes the first question and you hit the button for the corresponding answer on your DVD remote. Easy peasy. But then we all know how addictive easy things can become. Remember Tetris?
