Advantages: Suitable for all ages - Great Story - Wonderful Animation Disadvantages: Not always suitable for very young children
Like many things, I came across Avatar as I'd seen it mentioned quite a bit on the internet, and decided to give it a try. I admit "give it a try" for me usually involves some way of watching it for free, but I think half of my DVD collection would never have been bought had I not first watched them by some less than fully legal means. I enjoyed it, so ended up with all 3 series (books as they are known) on DVD.
Avatar:The Legend of Aang is an American Cartoon, also known as Avatar:The Last Airbender (the change of name supposedly being down to the fact that "bender" has a different meaning in the UK to the US, the meaning having nothing to do with getting drunk), which takes a lot of influence from Japanese anime, infact the whole show has a very Asian feel to it. It is set in a world where people have power to manipulate or "bend ...
Advantages: It just gets better - great for all ages Disadvantages: Not always suitable for very young children
I'll warn from the start, this review will contain some spoilers for Book1 - Water, incase you are reading this without having seen that.
Ok, with that out the way, onto the review. I'll assume that since your interested in this you probably already have seen Book1, so I won't bother going into too much detail about Avatar as a whole, and will more cover this series. At the end of Book2 we left Aang and his gaang up at the North Pole having just defeated the Fire Nation fleet trying to invade, and overcoming both Admiral Zhao and Prince Zukos seperate attempts to capture the Avatar. Book1 was also known as Water, and mainly focussed on this element, including the Water Tribe and Aangs training as a Water bender. Book2 is Earth, and this time focuses on the very different Earth Kingdom, and Aangs attempts to master Earth Bending ...
Advantages: Hilarious comedy, good viewing Disadvantages: only 3 episodes, expensive to buy whole set individually
Another installement to my DVD collection - the epic and classic comedy hero - Mr Bean. I love Rowan Atkinson, especially in Black Adder and also in the classic Mr Bean episodes. Despite my mood before hand, after watching Mr Bean I always feel much better, he always manages to intrigue my imagination with his biazarre mannerisms and abilty to turn the most straight forward of tasks into complete disaters!
Having not being able to buy the whollebox set I have had to purchase and review each DVD volume one by one.
This DVD contains 3 episodes, each with 3 or 4 sketches in them. All of whihc are brilliant and this DVD includes one of my favourites - the one where he goes to the swimming pool and clings to the diving board. The three episodes are entitled: Episode 1. 'The Curse Of Mr Bean', Episode 2. 'Mr Bean Goes To Town ...

DVD Description
Children's cable network Nickelodeon fashions an American spin on Japanese anime with their original series AVATAR: THE LEGEND OF AANG. On a futuristic Earth torn between the warring elements of Air, Earth, Water, and Fire, only one special being known as the Avatar can bring peace to the conflicted planet. The trouble is, the Avatar is an immature 12-year-old boy named Aang, who would rather wander the world having fun-filled adventures than settle down and face his heroic destiny. Ably blending kids-oriented comedy with martial-arts action/adventure worthy of its Japanese counterparts, AVATAR continues with this second thrilling instalment.
