Thom and Jock Cussier are brother who have moved from their home to the Russian Ural Mountains where they have set up a snow mobile centre. Business is not going well for them as one of the brother had a love affair with one of the business partners and when it ended she left the company and with her father decided to build a massive hotel and rival centre not far from the brother.

Things go from bad to worse for the brothers when they are taking two men out on a tour of the mountains and they wonder off onto snow which they were told not to go on. The brother both try and get they away as they can see the danger of an avalanche happening as the snow is unstable. They do manage to get the men away just before the avalanche hits them but the town below is not so luck and there are some casualties. The brothers are not liked by the town after this has happened but a chance meeting with a researcher leads the brothers to discover that this was only a minor event and a massive avalanche is about to happen.

Will Thom and Jock be able to warn the town and their rival company before the massive avalanche hits or will it strike and cause massive devastation?

Ok, the deciding factor for buying this DVD was the price and that both me and hubby fancied watching something a bit different. The cast for this film is full of unknown actors but I was surprised when I started watching and fund I knew one of the lead role. Thom was played by Andrew Lee Potts who Primeval fans will know as Connor and I have to say that he was probably the best actor in the film. The actors seemed to be very wooden and their was absolutely no chemistry between any of them. The character of Jock was quite good but even when he had a love affair with one of the female actors it just did not seem right and they were such an unlikely couple and for me it seemed as if it was added just to make the film slightly longer.

The storyline was average with nothing new to be found. I thought that it was very slow in places and seemed that things were just happening and being said with no purpose to make the film a decent length. I think that a lot could have been made of the film if more time was taken over the development o the script and much better actors.

The effects in the film were something to be desired. They all looked very cheap and none of them seemed real. The avalanches which we saw were the same old thing and both me and hubby commented on scenes which we had already seen quite a few times before. We did have a good laugh at the noise which was given for the avalanches as it sounded like a monster roaring, never before have I heard snow making this noise!

There was not much music in the film and what we did get was quite boring and not in keeping with the film and I would have liked a bit more of the classical music to help set the scene and emotions of what we were seeing. The costumes and sets which ere used were good and as the film was set in the present time not much effort was needed for these.

One thing which this film had going for it was the scenery which we were treated to. We had some wonderful shots of the snowy mountains and for me it was what made the film slightly more bearable to watch.

Luckily the DVD does not have any bonus material as I am not a fan of it and this film certainly did not leave enough of an impression to warrant watching any anyway. The running time of this film is 88 minutes which I felt half of this was made up by nonsense talking and padding. The certificate is a 12 and I do agree with this.

Luckily we only paid 50p for this DVD and I am so glad we did not pay more. I am not going to recommend this film as it is a cheap disaster movie with a very weak and boring and plot, bad special effects and there are no known actors in this at all.
