Austin Powers (The Spy who Shagged Me) is the second of the Austin Powers films and carries on the antics of the first film. When the film was due for release there was some doubt whether the title of the film would be allowed. In the end it was, but at most cinemas they didn?t display ?The Spy who Shagged Me?, they just displayed Austin Powers 2.
~~The Cast~~ Again Mike Myres plays many of the characters in the film including Austin Powers, Dr Evil and Fat Bastard. Elizabeth Hurley returns again as Vanessa. Michael York returns also as the leader of British intelligence. Robert Wagner also returns as Number 2 again. Seth Green also returns as Dr Evil son and Heather Graham appears as agent Felicity Shagwell. There are also cameos by Woody Harrelson, Jerry Springer, Tim Robbins, Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharch.
~~The Special Features~~ On the DVD version of the film there are the following special features; scenes which were edited out of the original film, there is a feature length commentary (which is the film but with commentary about the film by Mike Myres, Jay Roach),
there is behind the scenes section (about the films influences, Dr Evil and the Time Machine, Costumes and Sets, Mini Me and a few more), there are the music videos to three of the sings which appear on the sound track (?Beatiful Stranger? by Madonna, ?American Woman? by Lenny Kravitz and ?Word Up? by Scary Spice), you can view all of the theatrical trailers (of which there are four), there is a part called cameos (this gives details about that actors who had cameo roles, you can also view their scene), the last section is Cast and Crew (in this section you can view a biography and a filmography of the main cast and crew).
~~The Dr Evil Special Features~~ These are hidden from the main special features menu, for a while. If you leave the menu alone for a while the Dr Evil Option becomes available to access, this is a cool evil ?E?. In this section you can see both of the songs which Dr Evil and Mini Me performed in the film, these are ?What if God was one of Us? and ?Just the two of Us?. There is also a section called ?Classic Evil Schemes Gone Awry?, this is probably the best extra feature. There are classic Evil Schemes gone awry from film including James Bond, Matt Helm, Derek Flint, Harry Palmer and others. When you view the details of these schemes you see the film they were in and what year is was released, the villains and the actors who played them. There is a description of the scheme and the result.
~~My Thoughts~~ This is a very good sequel to the first film and carries on the ridiculous humour of the first. Even in the title of the first film they are taking the piss out of James Bond, ?The Spy who Loved Me?, ?The Spy who Shagged Me?. The story line in places follows that of the first in places, but this still makes for a very good film.
******* Warning: Please do not read on if you want to watch the film. *******
~~The Humour~~ The funniest parts of the film are; When Dr Evil is threatening the US President he shows a clip of Independence day in which the White House is blown up, this scares the President, which is quite funny. When Austin and Felicity get to Dr Evils secret volcano layer (an island) they come ashore. Felicity is in a bikini, so is Austin! I also find Dr Evils cloan, Mini Me, quite funny. He is identical to Dr Evil in everyway, except one eight his size (but a lot more evil). By far the funniest part of the film is right at the beginning of the film, Scott Evil is on the Jerry Springer show and Dr Evil appears as a surprise (you can imagine what happens next, sorry I?m not going to spoil it!).
~~The Film~~ The film starts at the end of the first film when Austin and Vanessa were on their honeymoon. About five minutes into the film you find out that Vanessa was a Fembot (female robots created in the first film). Since the last film Dr Evil has invented a time machine, with this time machine Dr Evil wants to go back in time and steal Austin Powers?s mojo (this is why Dr Evil always looses because of his mojo), this is done by Fat Bastard (who weights a metric ton). Anyway, after Dr Evil goes back in time so does Austin Powers; he even gets his disgusting teeth back! Once back in the sixties Austin gets back into the swing of things and Dr Evil starts to try and kill him. Saved by Felicity Shagwell, who Austin falls in love with, they start to go after Dr Evil, who is hiding on his hollowed out volcano layer! (Shaped in the face of Dr Evil!). What Dr Evils plan is to put a ?laser? on the moon and destroy Washington DC and other cities unless they are paid 100 Billion Dollars (to which they are laughed off by the US President, played by Tim Robbins, as that amount of money does not exist!). To save they day Austin and Felicity have to go to the moon to destroy the laser.

Advantages: Supremely funny throughout. Myers is great as three of the top characters. Good sound track. Probably improves upon the original which is noval for a sequel. Disadvantages: maybe just a tad too similiar to the original
