Austin Powers, like sex , is never as good the second time around. This film was an above average effort to milk some more ££££ out of the Austin Powers character. Merchandise city! Another excuse to sell the mugs, dolls, posters, t-shirts and all the other mechanise associated with a big budget Hollywood film these days. Back to the film. As a collection of sketches on Saturday Night Live this film would have worked but a 2 hour movie was just too much. There are only so many willy gags you can take in that short a time. The story was new but the gags weren’t. Austin Powers 1 was ten times better. It made me laugh for the first half an hour but the novelty wore off. This is not a film for my collection.
