should be packed into a cryogenic time chamber and sent back to the decade whence you came. Perhaps it was the 1960s--the shagadelic decade when London hipster Austin Powers scored with gorgeous chicks as a fashion photographer by day, crime-fighting international man of mystery by night. Yeah, baby, yeah! But when Powers' arch nemesis, Dr. Evil, puts himself into a deep-freeze and travels via time machine to the late 1990s, Powers must follow him and foil Evil's nefarious scheme of global domination. Mike Myers plays dual roles as Powers and Dr. Evil, with Elizabeth Hurley as his present-day sidekick and karate-kicking paramour. A hilarious spoof of 60s spy movies, this colourful comedy actually gets funnier with successive viewings, making it a perfect home video for gloomy days and randy nights. Oh, behave!--Jeff Shannon

movies of the 1990s, maybe you should be packed into a cryogenic time chamber and sent back to the decade whence you came. Perhaps it was the 1960s - the shagadelic decade when London hipster Austin Powers scored with gorgeous chicks as a fashion photographer by day, crime-fighting international man of mystery by night. Yeah, baby, yeah! But when Powers's arch nemesis, Dr. Evil, puts himself into a deepfreeze and travels via time machine to the late 1990s, Powers must follow him and foil Evil's nefarious scheme of global domination. Mike Myers plays dual roles as Powers and Dr. Evil, with Elizabeth Hurley as his present-day sidekick and karate-kicking paramour. A hilarious spoof of '60s spy movies, this colourful comedy actually gets funnier with successive viewings, making it a perfect home video for gloomy days and randy nights. Oh, behave!"I put the grrr in swinger, baby!" a deliciously randy Powers coos near the beginning ofThe Spy Who Shagged Me(1999), and if the imagination of Austin creator Mike Myers seems to have sagged a bit, his energy surely hasn't. This friendly, go-for-broke sequel finds our man Austin heading back to the '60s to keep perennial nemesis Dr. Evil (Myers again) from blowing up the world - and, more importantly, to get back his mojo, that man-juice that turns Austin into irresistible catnip for women, especially American spygirl Felicity Shagwell (a pretty but vacant Heather Graham). The plot may be irreverent and illogical, the jokes may be bad, and the scenes may run on too long, but it's all delivered sunnily and with tongue firmly in cheek. Myers teams Dr. Evil with a diminutive clone, Mini-Me (Verne J. Troyer), then pulls a hat trick by playing a third character, the obese and disgusting Scottish assassin Fat Bastard.Despite symptoms of sequelitis,Austin Powers in Goldmember(2002) is must-see lunacy for devoted fans of the shagadelic franchise. Unfortunately, the law of diminishing returns is in full effect: for every big-name cameo and raunchy double-entendre, there's an equal share of redundant shtick, juvenile scatology, and pop-cultural spoofery. All is forgiven when the hilarity level is consistently high, and Mike Myers -returning here as randy Brit spy Austin, his nemesis Dr. Evil, the bloated Scottish henchman Fat Bastard, and new Dutch disco-villain Goldmember - thrives by favouring comedic chaos over coherent plotting. Once they've tossed Austin into the disco fever of 1975 (where he's sent to rescue his father, gamely played by Michael Caine), Myers and director Jay Roach seem vaguely adrift with old and new characters, including Verne Troyer's Mini-Me and pop star Beyoncé Knowles as Pam Grier-ish blaxpo-babe Foxxy Cleopatra. A bit tired, perhaps, but Powers hasn't lost his mojo.

Advantages: too many to write them all Disadvantages: none - its too shagadelic
...All my life i have loved to watch films. When i first saw AustinPowers i was 100% impressed.
Its about a shagadelic swinger who is frozen for 30 years and then has to come back to fight Doctor Evil.
Its really funny and i guarantee you will never stop laughing. The main star is Mike Myers although there are many other popular actors in it.
Austin has to adjust to todays world, but will he do it? Find out.. and see all those hilarious scenes as Austin begs for sex! Yeah baby yeah...

...Painfully funny in parts, just painful in others and with one of the coolest soundtracks in decades, AustinPowersInternationalMan of Mystery has two problems, one is that Doctor Evil is far more interesting and humorous than AustinPowers, the other is that despite looking fabulous, Elizabeth Hurley just can not act. Still you wont much notice if you enjoy the Benny Hill style humour and occasionally pin sharp Bond spoofery. AustinPowers 2 puts right most of these criticisms and is a much better film. Mike Myers though is still a comedy genius in my eyes....

DVD Description
The dastardly doings of Dr. Evil lead to his escape into outer space and the cryogenic freezing of superagent Austin Powers. Thirty years later Dr. Evil returns to earth to bring about terror and mass destruction but finds his ideas and methods a bit out of date. So too does our hero who upon being thawed out, finds he's a bit behind the times as well. Well meaning and bumbling efforts to thwart the insidious Dr. Evil keep Austin and his devastatingly beautiful partner Vanessa busy from London to Las Vegas. Freedom in the '90s, baby! A hilarious send up of James Bond spy films and 1960's schtick.
Advantages: very funny Disadvantages: sometimes annoying
...AustinPowers: InternationalMan of Mystery was probably the funniest movie of 1997. Its jokes are very well-crafted and laugh-out-loud hilarious and the film's script is original and impressively likeable. Mike Myer's effort in this film was outstanding, he played 2 characters, wrote the script and basically directed the movie. Liz Hurley is also a sparkling gem of this flick, her performance was great.
AustinPowers: InternationalMan of Mystery is a film that is extremely hard to dislike, and it may sound lame, but in years to come, I reckon it will be a classic....

Advantages: Extremely Funny Disadvantages: Only Out On Video Now
...This movie is another must see movie for the year, however, I do feel that the sequel to this movie is better than the first. In this movie, Mike Myers who plays AustinPowers is following Dr. Evil who is also played by Mike Myers, Dr. Evil freezes himself in outer space, and when he awakes, he plans to take over the world with nucleur weapons, and the hero, AustinPowers has to save the world whilst adapting to present day life, because he froze himself, only to be awoken when Dr. Evil returns....
