DVD Description
Verdi's ninth opera which tells the story of the battle between Ezio, a general and the Nordic aggressor Attila. Sung in Italian with English subtitles.
Advantages: Historical accurate, excellent acting Disadvantages: The budget was not too big
...I've always loved historical movies. And Hollywood was, is and will be full with this kind of movies. Starting with Ben Hur and Cleopatra and finishing with the very well acclaimed Gladiator (which is, probably, the greatest historical movie ever!). But there is one major problem when you try to produce such movies: a big, huge budget.
Unfortunately, Attila did not have a big budget, and you can see this in the battle scenes. As far as I now (and I read a lot of history, believe me), a Roman legion had 5000 people(!!). But here, in the movie, you can see no more than 500, let's say maximum 1000 people, including the huns !
But this is the only problem with this movie. The rest is quite great: the actors (even all of them are "B movies" actors, I mean, not known), the decor (very realistic), etc.
The action is very simple, the movie...

Advantages: Reasonable acting, a few good scenes Disadvantages: Lots of historical inaccuracies
...Attila the Hun is a shadowy character in history. This is primarily due to the fact that the Huns and other peoples allied with and subject to them left little by way of written documentation in their own hand to the later generations. Most of what we know comes through Roman Imperial sources; even the legends that originated beyond the borders of the Eastern and Western Imperial lands were transcribed (and no doubt modified in the process) by foreign writers to suit their world view, if not particular political intentions.
Much of the legendary Attila has been re-worked over time so that many nations in Europe and Asia have claimed at one time or another either kinship with or victory over or subjugation to Attila. Some of these legends show forth in the movie, and others do not. This movie does not get high marks for historical...

STORY
A young and beautiful opera singer Betty (Marsillach), gets the chance of a lifetime, when a previous singer on the production of Verdi's Macbeth is injured in an motor accident. Even though Betty accepts she fears the play is cursed. She becomes the target of an obsessive psychopath who ties her up foots needles under her eyes and forces her to watch him killing everyone she loves. Not even the police can stop him as he continues his pursuit of terrorising the young opera singer.
What i love about this film is the bizarre camera style that Argento uses, especially in a sequence when crows are terrorizing an opera audience, you are given a first person view of the crows as theyswoop down towards the crowd. One of the films...
