I really love 'The Life Collection' from David Attenborough. The complete series of 'Life in the Freezer' was the third dvd of the collection that I bought. The series itself has six episodes which are all on one disc. They were originally transmitted in 1993. The six episodes are: Episode 1: The Bountiful Sea - All about the Southern Antarctic Ocean and the species in it Episode 2: The Ice Retreats - About when Spring comes and the wildlife coming back to land to breed. Episode 3: The Race To Breed - How seals and penguins have to breed quickly before winter comes round again. Episode 4: The Door Closes - The disappearance of food as winter returns and how the wildlife have to migrate before this happens. Life on Earth - David Attenborough

Advantages: So educational and interesting. Beautiful footage
Disadvantages: None what so ever!

are really amazing and really fit in well with the theme of the series. The box set itself comes in a cardboard sleeve which has a large picture of a frog on the front. It has 'Life On Earth' written at the top in large white letters and then at the bottom 'David Attenborough' in smaller yellow letters. The box set opens out like a book so you can see all of the dvds at once to allow for easy selection! The front cover of the inner box set is identical to the cardboard sleeve. There are not many special features on the dvd, only a 'Wild Track with Tony Soper' which is quite interesting. It has an interview with David Attenborough on it and gives information about the filming and the content of the programs. This special feature is on disc 4 of the dvd box set. The Blue Planet, David Attenborough

Advantages: interesting images, informative, good price
Disadvantages: can be repetative, dull in places

The blue planet is the comprehensive tv series, on the history of the oceans. Narrated by David Attenborough, there are some fantastic images and you will discover creatures that you have never seen or heard of before. This series looks at the various different types of habitats and how each of the creatures living in them survive. The soundtrack is composed by George Fenton and really fits in well with the images adding drama and suspense when needed. There are eight episodes in the series; 1: The Blue Planet This is basicly an overview of all the different aspects of the oceans to show the scale, force and complexity of our planet. 2: The Deep This was by far my favourite episode it explores the depths of the ocean where no sunlight reaches, the fish down here are well, ugly, really ugly and id never seen anything like ...
