This anniversary collection celebrates Hope and his unmistakable one-liners with a set of 2 programmes: BOB HOPE AT THE MOVIES and YOUNG BOB HOPE. BOB HOPE AT THE MOVIES offers a retrospective of Hope's movie career, including clips of some of his funniest film moments. YOUNG BOB HOPE features footage from Hope's "Strictly G.I." series, television specials produced by the U.S. government to boost the morale of servicemen in World War II.

...I have lost count on the amount of times I have seen this film. Have to say its one of my favs. The gist of the plot Is a town called Antonio Bay who are celebrating their 100thanniversary of its founding. The fog contains something which is evil and hell bent on revenge for past misdeads. It has a beautiful location and has a great cast . The cast is good too, Jamie lee curtis the original scream queen and her mum in real life Janet leigh. This is a classic revenege movie and the plot I enjoy Which revolves around revenge and secrets of long ago and the fog rolls in to avenege .misdeads of long ago.When the dead sailiors come in to town to avenge, very creepy stuff. I would recommend it to any one who loves classic horrors.This dvd also has special features which include commentry by the director John Carpenter and the Producer...

Advantages: Gripping timeless tale Disadvantages: none
.... But in order to do this he needs assistance, he has just returned from New York from a meeting with top businessmen who for financial help will get a share of Shand's London Empire. Yes I know what your thinking, grand plan it will never take off ;o) seriously though it's an interesting vision of the future from a 1979 perspective, especially when plans for the development were not instigated to nearly 1982. So while not only being a pretty good movie it was already predicting the future of London. You'll notice that I stated 1979, when this brand new DVD release states 25thanniversary edition; well this little story is best left for the DVD to tell you but basically on completion of the movie back in 1979 a legal war kicked off preventing the movie from seeing cinema's for 2 years.

Advantages: A true British classic. Should have won Oscars! Disadvantages: Not a lot! Well, maybe the graphic violence.
...gangster movie. As far as I'm concerned they can never have watched ALGF, as it beats it hands down.
The DVD that I own is the "25thAnniversary Edition" which I purchased on eBay for about £5 back in early 2007. It was released in September 2006, and is currently available at Amazon from only £4.44. But as ever, shop around for the best bargain.

DVD EXTRAS
The colour and sound on the DVD is superb, and belies the fact that it was taken from a movie that was made 25 years previously.
The sound has been upgraded to Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo. I'm not sure what this signifies exactly, but it was crisp and clear through the speakers of my Philips Home Theatre surround sound system.
As lots of "cockney slang" is used throughout the movie, there's a glossary (translation) provided on the DVD extras. For those of you who aren't familiar...
