Advantages: amazing speical effects and is for the whole family Disadvantages: not for very young people as slight violence
...i purchased this dvd about three weeks ago and after seeing the series on the tv i was amazed that i was still hooked .
this series is good for the whole family but you might want to check it as there is some swearing and sex involved.
There is something in this series for everyone, for the children there are aliens and the fact that theres amazing affects and excitement. For the men theres a lot of violence and sexy scenes.
There is also a womens aspect as this a action based, alien, crime detective thriller.
This dvd is also packed with loads of speical features and deleted scenes.
There is a large amount of viewing time to be had out of this dvd and so
it is great value for money....

Advantages: Good adaptaion from the film Disadvantages: Bad episodes
...to them. On meeting Daniel Jackson, the man who found out how the Stargate worked and has lived on Abydos since the end of the movie, the SGC (Star Gate Command) find out that the Stargate goes to other planets, hence the basis of the series.
The Pilot episode shows all this and has the introduction of new characters such as General Hammond who takes the place of Colonel West from the film. Also the introduction of Major Samantha Carter who becomes a member of the Flag-ship team of explorers, designated "SG1", along with fellow team members, Colonel Jake O'Neil, Daniel Jackson and the alien Teal'c. On a mission to find Daniel's wife and brother in-law, the team go to many different planets in search of new allies and technology to fight against the evil Apophis (alien).
The DVD is of good picture quality, a bit grainy at times but overall...

...I bought this DVD when it came out last year so now it's time to review it.
Basically early doors is set in a small pub up north called The Grapes .Where everyday when the clock strikes 5.30 a crowd of 5 arrives and whinge , moan and talk about how boring and dull life is Don't let this put you off though as it truly is an excellent series.
The show like all good comedy's has some very lovable characters; Tommy, the miserable old sod who goes to the pub to avoid loneliness at home, then sits on his own; Eddie , the boring bloke in the corner who spends his life talking about traffic congestion and Jean , Kens(landlord) mum who eats his profits away , quite literally.
I really do recommend this DVD to all comedy lovers out there, Series 2 is currently been re-shown on BBC 1 on Thursday nights at 10:45 so take a look at this genius...
