This is one very brilliant action movie.
A rogue asteroid is on its way to hit the Earth and destroy all life on the planet (even the bacteria!) The best brains in the entire world are put to work on how to save the planet. Well, this is very much an American film so all the best brains are of course concentrated at NASA in the USA. Once you can get past the idea that only America would even be aware that the world is about to be destroyed you can then get on and enjoy this film.
The action sequences right from the beginning of this movie are spectacular and continue throughout the film with dramatic effect. I think a lot of special effects and stunt men will have had a lot of fun making this film.
The asteroid heading towards Earth is about the size of the state of Texas and the only way to save Earth is to put a nuclear bomb on a fault line 800 feet inside the asteroid. The best driller in the world is of course Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis) who is tracked down and reunited with his team and told that they are the only people that can save the planet.
In twelve days this team of roughnecks are trained to be astronauts and sent on their perilous mission to the asteroid. The film is the events and the finale of these twelve days and you are kept enthralled throughout the whole story. The acting is brilliant by every single member of the cast and the direction of the film keeps the tension and action in perfect balance.
I don’t normally notice the soundtrack of a film, but in this case it is really outstanding and adds considerably to the effects and the overall atmosphere.
By now you have probably guessed that I really enjoyed this film. Action films are normally my favourite type of film and this one is certainly on my list of one of the best ever.
I know the story of asteroids heading towards Earth has been tried many times and normally the story line gets too tied up with trying to save the life of one young American boy riding on his bicycle. This is definitely not the case with Armageddon. The story follows the big picture, the effects are big, the cast are big and there is a great big finish.
If you have a chance of watching this film then do so.

Good op and I agree the score was fantastic (I even got the CD from the USA) but did Aerosmith really have to do every song in there, just because SHE was in it. :o)
