Armageddon Over Wacken - Live 2005 DVD

...Armageddon stars Bruce Willis as Harry, Liv Tyler as his daughter Grace and Ben Affleck as AJ. Basically Harry owns an oilrig where Ben works among others. One day NASSA notice that there's a huge comet coming towards the earth and will hit and kill every living thing in eighteen days time. The only idea they come up with is to fly someone up to dig into the meteor and plant explosives to blow it up. Believe me this is a sad movie even if it is full of action...This film is really good in my opinion it has alot of action in it and the acting is very good and the story line is excellant.... Advantages: Has decent special effects..
Disadvantages: ...but then pretty much ignores anyone but the astronaut characters. Hugely predictable.

...characters are going to live and which ones will die, taking any real element of surprise out of the film. You see, when I say Deep Impact is a well rounded film, I mean that it shows how the impending crisis affects a wide variety of characters and their lives. Armageddon, on the other hand, focuses exclusively on the characters aboard the shuttle and no-one else. It's not just that it's a dumb action film, it's that it's not even a good dumb action film. The only real reason to watch Armageddon - which seems to be shown on TV every four weeks - is to laugh at the cheesy script and maybe test out your surround sound system if you buy it on DVD. I certainly can't recommend this film for anything other than its comedy value.... Read review

...As any film- buff will tell you, movies come in pairs. Crimson Tide and Hunt For Red October, Dantes Peak and Volcano, Armageddon and Deep Impact. One film will be action, action, action, the other will be more intelligent. Armageddon is action, action, action. Armageddon stars Bruce Willis and as such is one of those action movies with loads of destruction, few obvious deaths and effects to knock you out. Willis stars as oil- rig worker Harry S Stamper, the worlds expert driller who lives on his oil rig with his daughter Grace, played by Liv Tyler, who is in love with Ben Afflecks AJ Frost. Willis shows his feelings for this relationship when he chases Affleck around the rig, firing his shotgun. Right... Basically, Armageddon is about an asteroid 'the size of Texas' hurlting towards Earth with the unconcious aim of smashing... Read review
