Apollo 15-17 - In The Mountains Of The Moon DVD

Advantages: Historically accurate and informative
Disadvantages: Trying to make a drama out of what was actually a crisis

...out a lot of the time, this is a movie where HD doesn't hurt but you're really not likely to gasp in awe at its wonders. The events are remarkable and those involved have lots to say on the matter. The extra materials seem generous and are still holding my attention. It's more education than entertainment in my opinion and that's something to consider if you're thinking of getting it. On that basis I'd certainly recommend it. If the history of our trips to the moon interests you this HD DVD and its extras should prove informative, startling at times, and at least fairly entertaining at others. Advantages: Ron Howard has done his homework to bring us a realistic film showing the true events of this sad Apollo mission.
Disadvantages: I cannot see any. This film contains great actors acting at their best!

...; They will not be going to the moon. The rest of the film deals with mission control trying to bring them home safely. Flight director, Gene Kranz, played by Ed Harris, has a race against time and all odds to come up with accurate instructions for the disheartened Apollo crew. I first saw this film a few years ago and it also happens to be my boyfriends favourite film of all time so he brought it on DVD. He watches it over and over again and as you can imagine, I too have to endure endless showings. In a way, these multiple viewings have made me look at the film in a different light. I have begun to feel sadness for the astronauts, not just because they ‘lost the moon’ but also because the American public and television networks were no longer interested in space travel and landings on the moon. ...This film is based on the true story of Apollo 11 and her journey to the moon in July 1969. It goes from the beginning of the mission to landing on the moon itself. It also studies the men on the flight, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins and gives us an insight into their personalities. The action in the film is limited and is what you would expect from a story about Apollo 11, the film didn't do too well when it was released but despite this it is actually a good film and is very accurate in its historical detail. I really enjoyed this film and if you are interested in Space travel or the history of the moon landings thenm you should definetly watch this.... Read review
