This is the story of the Apollo 11 mission and the 'space hardware' that made it all possible. This manual looks at the evolution and design of the mighty Saturn V rocket the Command and Service Modules and the Lunar Module. It describes the space suits worn by the crew and their special life support systems. We learn about how the Apollo 11 mission was flown - from launch procedures to 'flying' the Saturn V and the 'LEM' and from moon walking to the earth re-entry procedure.

purpose of the Apollo 11 mission was to land men on the lunar surface and to return them safely to Earth. On board were astronauts Neil A. This momentous occasion of Neil Armstrong, shortly followed by Buzz Aldrin, setting foot on the 'Sea of Tranquility' from the lunar module 'Eagle', was broadcast live to a staggering 600 million people around the world. This ninety minute feature length 'award-winning' documentary, voice by TV's 'Dr Who', Tom Baker, is a fascinating and compelling insight into the story of Apollo 11 and man's conquest of space and the race for the moon.

Advantages: A tense, suspense filled drama Disadvantages: None
As far as space films go, I am not a big fan so it was with some trepidation that I took this one in. After a few minutes, it is clear that this is going to stand head and shoulders above the rest which is due, in large part, to the immense performance of Academy Award Winner Tom Hanks, but also to a tremendous true story of bravery, skill and hope.
A year after the epic moon landing of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 13 was scheduled for a moon landing of its own. The original crew of Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks), Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) and Ken Mattingley (Gary Sinise) are just days away from the launch when Mattingley is pulled from the team due to the belief that he may have been exposed to infection.
Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon) steps inand after a routine launch, disaster strikes, leading to the immortal line "Houston, we ...
Advantages: Sam Neil, history. A film which has been filmed very well. No American flag waving! Disadvantages: The concept doesn't grab your attention. Its almost as if you need to find yourself in the cinema before you'll consider watching it.
the Southern Hemisphere and the United States of America isn’t. In the outback town of Parkes in the rural landscape of New South Wales there happens to be (thanks to the effort of the local mayor, we’re told) the largest radio telescope on that side of the planet. When the Apollo11 spacecraft is on the southern side of the planet it’ll be about of reach of all the radio telescopes in the USA and so the Americans did a deal with the Australians and Parkes was brought on board to help track the spaceship. The film picks up with the Australian Prime Minster paying attention to this fact for the first time. What has grabbed his attention is the fact that Parkes’ role has been upgraded and it will now be the telescope responsible for beaming the live TV footage of the Lunar walk to the world.
That’s all I’m ...
