A mish-mash of three acts, this is an unsatisfying film. The universal theme of this film seems to be about the young taking over from the old. This is emphasised by the clashing of the new young female owner Christina Pagniacci (Cameron Diaz) of the fictional Miami Sharks versus the older current manager Tony D'Amato (Al Pacino)and the other rivalry between a hot up-and-coming star Willie Beamen (Jamie Foxx) who is threatening the fast-fading quarterback Jack Rooney. The film is filled with close-up action of American football and for some this is a good diversion from the rest of the action which takes place mostly off the field but is mainly meaningless and serves little purpose but as to show off Stone’s directing ability. The montages that most of the action takes place in (whether verbal or physical) seemingly are pushed with a message delibrately pushed into the viewer’s face and the owmen in the film are strictly one-dimensonal. The viewer never really seems to be part of the story (even though we get a graphic depiction of what American footballers do as their stock-in-trade). A visual treat, yes An intellectual one, no.

Advantages: Strong performances, excellent musical accompaniment,Highly engrossing Disadvantages: Predictable, and sometimes ponderous narrative,Subject matter may put some people off
Advantages: Storming cinematography, strong pace, great acting Disadvantages: might not like it as its about American Football, script a littel lacking compared to the other parts of the film
