I always class this type of movie as the "Sickie". The kind of film yourmum puts on and makes you watch, while your laid up ill on the seatee. But in truth, through all the complaints of, "Do I really have to watch this, It's rubbish!". You know you enjoy it and it makes you feel warm inside. It's not long before your singing along to the show tunes. Based on the true story of Annie Oakley, Frank Butler, Colonel Buffaol Bill and Chief Sitting Bull. Annie Get Your Gun, boasts a fantastic Oscar winning score, featuring songs you probably didn't even know were in this film.
"Colonel Buffalo Bill" "Doin' What Comes Natur'lly" "The Girl That I Marry" "There's No Business Like Show Business" "They Say It's Wonderful" "My Defences Are Down" "I'm An Indian Too" "I Got The Sun In The Morning" "Anything You Can Do"
Annie Get Your Gun stars, female Comedienne of the time Betty Hutton as Annie Oakley and Howard Keel as Loving, Shooting, Singing, Frank Butler. The opening introduction by Susan Lucci, gives background on Annie Oakley, who's life the story follows, and interesting information about the 1950's film. It could have been an entirely different movie altogether. As originally Judy Garland was cast as Annie, but she dropped out due to illness and exhaustion. Leaving the role open for Betty Hutton. Watching the footage of Judy's performance, in my opinion, as much as Judy Garland work was wonderful, Betty Hutton was the better choice for te part, as she brought a ruggedness to the character.
